Hello,

My problem is the game requesting the right CD/DVD when I got the right medium in. I recently patched the game because it kept sometimes crashing due the game unstable as I have dual core CPU and the computer itself is supposed to be Vista, but is Windows XP.

I've got the game on original DVD bought year ago.

My comp: OP: Windows XP SP3 CPU: AMD Athlon(Tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2,61GHz Memory: 2 GB RAM DVD: HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GSA-H60L Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 4670 Hard Drive: ST3500630AS

I DID go to google and lucasarts things first, but only thing I found was this

which didn't work. Either with the international update or the normal one.

Thanks for help in advance.

Well, no solution yet. I tried all patches I could (two - International and US (domestic)) and neither one worked. Pretty odd ._..

I also asked on Gametoast but nothing so far.

hmmmmmmmm, this sounds bad.... so no mods. Just the game itsself. well all i can say is Uninstall the game. Close all software thats running(to prevent clashes with programs), then install. Run the game see if it works. if it does not work then lokk through the pacthes. ONLY get the v1.1 English patch do not get any other version AT ALL. this is to prevent getting a patch for the wrong language or getting something you don't need. which is here: Star Wars Battlefront Patch, Star Wars Battlefront 2 Downloads, Star Wars Battlefront 2 Patches If the same issues arous i would suggest calling the lucasarts technical support hotline. If we cant fix it, more than likely they can. Good luck- msc Edit: Also make sure its in the right path which should be C:\ProgramFiles\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II if it isnt thats the issue

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!;4749744Sorry for double posting, just mentioning:

Well I tried what they wrote here ^.

I did try the right patch (International for my DVD), and then I tried to patch it their way. I succeeded on patching it their way, but nothing changed with launching the game. And between the patching I had to reinstall the whole game.

PS: you posted SWBF1 patch. [quote=msc204;4755056]hmmmmmmmm, this sounds bad.... so no mods. Just the game itsself. well all i can say is Uninstall the game. I posted on Gametoast, too (clicky) if you want to see what they told me.

Sorry for double posting, problem solved.

I run Windows XP with DVD made for Vista, so I had to install different driver, so BF2 doesn't recognize it as original DVD ._....

Aaaah yes that reminds me... What version of windows Vista do you or did you have? As unfortunantly only certain versions of vista seem to run the game propperly. For example. I have Wondows Vista Home-premium on a desktop computer. Also note that sime games will NOT work on certain computers. So its best to avoid a laptop install. If you have a desktop and do NOT have home premium my onlt word of advice for you is to get some cash, run to a store, andbut home premium(unless the upgrade is free, which i am NOT sure of). Also, DO NOT DOWN GRADE TO XP IT WILL NOT WORK. As I have seen this issue in many other cases. If THAT does work here's another word of advice, when installing a apatch, make sure that the SWBFII game disc is NOT in the hard drive. This will make sure it installs PROPERLY. I certainly hope 1 of these 2 will help you get on your way to swbf2.... Course then again swbfIII moved from freeradical to rebellion(the guys who made renegade and world at war) and some of its final prodcuts HAVE been turned in for a rating in the UK and Austrailia. SO don't get P.O.'d if(or when) you get this working that SWBFIII is announced and close to release(btw its rumored release date in in March. Which is just a few days over a month away ;) ). Good Luck, msc

msc204;4787870Also, DO NOT DOWN GRADE TO XP IT WILL NOT WORK.

That's exactly what I did before ever installing it again after year pause and posting here. It also causes my pc crash sometimes because I can't get the right drivers for Xp because hardware is partly made for Vista only ._..
