I have downloaded his skins and coded them in but they don't have animations(walking, death, shooting, ect). Do I need to make animations or did I do something wrong?

its only because u need them to have a renamed model for their renamed skin to avoid conflections so if i had a reskined darktrooper and the texture file is called darktrooperp2m.whtevr, i would copy the model and call it darktrooperp2m.alo, try that

So all I need to do is Rename them so the .dds and .alo names match. To make it like like CI_Trooper.alo and CI_Trooper.dds

How do you do that? I have a hex editor, but I have no idea how to do anything with it.

You have to have them use the EI_Trooper animation.

nonono, I did them completely different..

1) copy a selection of xml code for the unit you want to create a new version of. ( I mean make a copy of all the StormTrooper entries) from all the XML files. eg, groundinfantry.xml and groundcompaniesempire.xml and rebel (if doing ones for the rebels too) plus copy stuff from containers.xml

2) with your copy of the StormTrooper entrys, rename the unit to some thing new eg, 501_CloneTrooper and 501_CloneTrooper_Squad ETC..

3) You will see this listed in the groundinfantry.xml section of the code :

EI_TROOPER.ALO Temperate, EI_TROOPER.ALO, Urban, EI_TROOPER.ALO, Arctic, EI_TROOPER_Snow.ALO, Volcanic, EI_TROOPER_Sand.ALO, Desert, EI_TROOPER_Sand.ALO, Forest, EI_TROOPER.ALO, Swamp, EI_TROOPER.ALO EI_TROOPER.ALo

Change this code so its some thing like this:

CI_501.aloEI_TROOPER.ALo

OR if doing some thing where you want to add addtional skins or variations for the same unit - do like this: - (This is for a clone Trooper)

EI_TROOPER.ALO Temperate, CI_SHOCK_TROOPER.alo, Urban, CI_SHOCK_TROOPER.alo, Arctic, CI_SHOCK_TROOPER.alo, Volcanic, CI_SHOCK_TROOPER.alo, Desert, CI_SHOCK_TROOPER.alo, Forest, CI_SHOCK_TROOPER.alo, Swamp, CI_SHOCK_TROOPER.alo EI_TROOPER.ALo

For each of the terrain types alter the alo file name for each trooper you want to use for that type. You want to use a clone trooper with a sand color markings on the uniform, you can. Just make sure it points to the correct ALO file for that trooper.

When you get to groundcompaniesempire (what ever faction you use)

you will find this code:

EI_TROOPER.ALOEI_TROOPER.ALO

This does NOT need to be changed.

Put all the ALO files and DDS files from the Clone Mod into your art folder in the sub folders of Models and Textures.

As for the container code - this should be created so to create a clean set of container code for the new unit type that is going to be similar to the Stormtroopers. This way you can add not only new icons for that new unit, but new abilities etc.

Think thats all, if there is anything else please ask, ;)

So there is no need to rename dds files or anything like that. which will then possibly conflict with other units in the game.

I have one more question: How do you make them stay in companies? Cuz right now they don't stay within the little green circle thing, they're all spread out and stuff.

Other than that they work fine. Thanks Consulor. :)

it could be reading the arrangement from here:

From Containers.xml (My ShockTrooper code)

Rows

so what ever your container arrangement says - is the way they are moving around on the map.

- I would expect that your new units are copying the same behaviour from the original code you copied so it will act the same as the original unit code you had copied it from.

Remember to create a new container - for each new unit you create, so you can if you wish - change their arrangements, and have different abilities, as well as a new icon.

If you have this problem:

'Units move around away - or outside the circle' - meaning that the the circle is not aligned with the squad on the map:

try changing these (you will have to jiggle this about until they are aligned properly)

My clone ShockTrooper unit:

From Containers.xml

.1 .1

example from groundinfantry.xml

0.05 0.05

You will find these values in the Containers.xml file and also groundinfantry.xml

The entry in groundinfantry should be different for some reason (single trooper) to the one in containers (squad).
