, i was refering to testing, adding new planets, and seting up starting units, as well as some story scripting maybe, and trade routs, trying to get it exactally right can be a big pain in the butt. yea if you just copy everything it'll make it MUCH faster :p

Even without Copy and Paste it doesn't take that long. Tell me, Are your hands made of Spiced Ham?

 well maybe "Weeks" was exagerating, but it does take several hours at least. if your making a completly new GC with completly new planets, and units, it takes longer because you have to make sure the planets all connect properly so there isn't an unreacable planet, then you have to creat the starting units, the text, and story (if any)

New units shouldn't be a problem, the planets thing i can see is a bit of a pain, first position number is - for left and + for right, second # is - for down and + for up, third is always 10.0 for stock planets and is - for below and + for above, try to compare # values with positions in GC on stock planets before coding in new ones. I might add mustafar to my mod, I know it is in foc, but I don't have foc and I need another clone wars planet for a gc map im making that is clone wars themed, I put nal hutta in for pirates earlier but it got between kamino and geonosis, I may also add more planets so that the factions are more seperated (I made pirates playable in my mod, it can get crouded very quickly when sandwiched between admiral ackbar with 10 nebulons and piett with 5 victories.)

@ Nebulogan: Well what i find the best way, is to take my file in GMax that has sphears all fut in the exact corinates as ingame, then any new planets i put in there also, (the PPP doesn't work, my monitor only suppoers 1024X768 or somthin like that ;) ) and then i use links to show where all trade routs are gonna be, i use a flat ciricle to make sure all of the right planets connect, then i save it, i know have a modeled representation of my new GC i make sure the locations of the planets in the XML is the same as in GMax, then i add then to the locations list, then i do all of the trade routs, then i set up all units, buildings, space stations ETC ETC and then i se the proper story EML then i count up the stats and make the text, then i copy it for all of the factions and set it right for each one, thn i test it and fix any bugs.

In my opinion this is the most foolproof way to do it, you make sure it all works right, and this way lets you get a feel for how the GC will be BEFORE you creat it.

and for the owner of the thread, i suggest looking through all of the tutorials in the master sticiky, there is one that contains 80% of what you need to know ;)
