GIMP is that open source imaging program. Photoshop is a lot better, thats what I use ;)

Yes, PS is better, but for those who don't have $600 to blow, and who don't want to risk being fined for using an illegal version of PS, the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Project) offers 90% the power of PS, cross-platform compatibility, and a pricetag of $0.00. And it can use all of PS plugins.

Sorry for the off-topic.

That I can't help with. I've learned how to use it the old fashioned way..."what's this do?" click "oh...neat". And a lot of edit|undo.

I use Photoshop at work some, GIMP at home (I don't make NEARLY enough to afford PS for home, and I can't use Opera browser at work, so I won't touch anything that requires internet access). although the interface is WAY clunkier on GIMP than PS, it can get the job done. Check out http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ for some help on using it. Don't know personally if they're any good or not, never went through them myself.

I use the GIMP for the texturing of my models. I've gotten used to most of it's functions now.
