Hey guys.:cya: Iam trying to add some sound effects but it never plays it in game, i made sure it was a .wav file and put it in the Data/Audio/Sfx, and made the code for it.?? is there anything ima missing or some kinds of trick??
Well, I can think of two things:
1.) Can I see your code? Just to confirm that there are no problems with it.
Or disregard the first and:
2.) What is the sound's bitrate? If it's too high, the sound won't play in-game. This was a problem I originally ran into, but it's easy to fix with most sound editors. Hovering your cursor over the sound should give a little popup window that will display the bitrate. For SFX sounds, 705 kbps is a good bitrate.
Ok first off i have 3 sounds files iam adding in 2 of them have a 705 bitrate and 1 of them has a 352 bit rate. Here is 1 of the lines of code Preset_GUNSFireBallShot.wav Jus like that and the other 2 waves use the same thing. i put it in the IweaponSFX xml and told the game to use that xml. It is reading the xml jus not playing my sounds??, Is there another file or something i use to upload the sounds maybe??

Heres a portion from the BSG Colonial Wars mod I was helping with. Note the Samples line contains the FULL FOLDER LOCATION and not just the .wav filename. Try putting in the full path as I have and you should find it works fine.

Personally, I use Power Sound Editor Free. The free version only does .wavs, but that's still quite nice when dealing with SFX files. 705 kbps is a good bitrate to use (it's the one that FoC's sounds are set at).
