In short, I've been working on making a non-playable zombie faction based on the recently released Star Wars novel, Death Troopers using the amazing zombie infantry models by Redtachi. I've been working on this mod as a hobby in my spare time only, so I'm not very time efficient. I've been thinking to save time and possibly release the mod befor Christmas, I should get help for other areas of the mod. This isn't a 'job', and I'm not really putting together a 'team', it's just contributing components of the mod that I'm too lazy or overloaded to do. Overall I'm treating this like a mini-mod since there's no new factions or even playable units, though there is a lot of possible content and different directions to go with it. The only requirements are that you know what you're doing and that you be creative. Also, please test the new XMLs so I don't ruin the mod by merging them if they're corrupted. Modders who contribute will be credited in the mod's readme. UPDATE: Admiral Jamoking has offered to code and possibly skin the Infected space fleet, so I don't need any other help with that for now. Necassary help Space coder I want the Undead faction to have a space fleet,

just like when the Infected 'learned' about fighters at the end of the book and attempted to launch themselves at other planets.

I'm very busy coding the land units and space modding has never been my favorite. So I was wondering if someone could help out with this. I've already come up with some generic unit ideas in my head, but basicly do whatever fits the theme. Make sure every aspect of the fleet reminds the player of typical zombie tactics, as 'zombies' and 'space combat' dont' typically go together. Unit suggestions Infected ISD -3x fire rate of ordinary ISD, incredibly innaccurate -Much slower than normal ISD -Recharges tractor beam faster.

(The book mentions the tractor beam as the first thing the Infected 'learned', so I'd like to show it in the mod)

Infected Shuttle -Faster than ordinary transport shuttles -Come in large groups -Only fire in extremely close range -Self Destruct ability converts nearby fighters, corvettes, and frigates. (Use the last lines of code from Palpatine's corrupt projectile, it does work in space) Infected Hive -Basicly just like the Pirate starbase -3x firing rate, incredibly innaccurate -Calls Infected ISDs (might be a little bit overpowered, consider frigates instead) from hyperspace. Infected versions of other ships would be great too. Put all your additions to XMLs in a commented off section at the bottom so I can merge them. Mapper This is the hard part. I'd like to have an indoor skirmish map based on the book where each faction gets only a base and a barracks. Please make in the style of most FoC skirmish maps, IE 'team' base positions rather than set bases for each faction. If you're a fairly new mapper, don't try unless you're incredibly skilled. Try to match up the layout with the book if you can. I'll add zombie spawns to it after you send it to me. Additional help Modeler If I could get a few new models, it would be great. Redtachi already contributed some great undead stormtrooper, pirate, and rebel models. I can get pretty far with reskins, but variety is always good. I doubt I'll get ANY help here unless Redtachi does even more, but I can always dream. Rakghoul I'd really like to link the Death Troopers story with KotoR by including Rakghouls on Taris and explaining that the Empire engineered the virus from mutant strains of them. The prequel will probably crush that theory, but can't we enjoy it while it lasts? Common Infected An infected civilian with Sandpeople like anims just like Redtachi's stuff would be great, I could reskin it for a variety of things. Undead Officer Infected Imp officers are very common in the book and SWG, they'd be great to see in the mod. Undead Consortium Mercenary It would be great if someone could give the Grenadier/Disruptor Sandpeople animations just like Redtachi's other zombie models. I'm pretty sure he said he was working on it but didn't have time to finish or something like that. Short Undead For Ewoks, Mon Calamari, and Sullustans. Mutated beyond recognition. Undead Rancor? I've already got a reskin for one, but a new model with the horns and everything would be sweet. There isn't already a bull rancor model is there?

its sad that no one shows interest in this.. i will try to help you with some things. i used to mod every aspect of FoC a few months ago. i will try to help you with space first and see how it works. as for the maps. im not a very good mapper so i guess that if the mod grows. you will find a good mapper for the indoor maps ;) its not that hard to make a map for empire at war. i made a few and modified a few in skirmish but there are very good mappers out there ;) i will try to send you a few improved skins too and see if you like it.

i will start working on this tomorrow. if you need anything just xfire me

Thanks a lot! I'm sorry to burst your bubble though, Admiral Jamoking has already starting working on coding the space fleet. I'm not sure how far he's gotten. You could ask him if he needs any help. As for the mapping, I just finished one map - an edited version of my Hypori campaign to skirmish conversion. Some more would be nice though. Just so you know, use the Bothan_Spawn_house_mission building for the zombie spawnhouses, and set the faction to hostile. Since the corruption missions are gone, I figured it would be a good thing to replace for the map editor. (Using modded content in the map editor is very risky and I don't do it anymore) Also, I don't have Xfire. :( Oh, and if you want to check out the mod's beta - http://empireatwar.filefront.com/file/Galaxy_of_the_Dead;108569

If you accidentally load a map with mod content that the game doesn't have, which is easy to do if you're frequently juggling XMLs for the map editor, it asplodes. Seriously though, it corrupts your registration files and can take FOREVER to fix. I'm surprised I ever got FoC working again. No matter how many freaking times you reinstall, it won't work. So don't mod and map, kids. I understand some mappers will have to in order to use new props, but still.

its weird that never happend to me beafore. i made maps for several BIG mods for personal use but the maps works. even if you uninstall the mod. the map works. the modded props just dissapears but the map doesnt crash or anything like it. as for the space modding its ok i just though that no one was helping you just ask me if you need something else

Thats never happened to me, and I constantly juggle xmls as well, since I map for SoTE and ETM.

btw if you have intresting music that you want inside the mod. let me know. i made a few music mods for empire at war but i never uploaded my mods. just because most mods doesnt even have its own music or it have only 2 or 3 mp3's only. i changed ALL musics in game. i tested the mod and for now it looks awesome and its harder than i expected! i suggest that you add more health to zombies but make them slower. they run too fast for being undead and try to ask for permission for models and gfx. the mod would be great if you had some effects from FX mod or more units and vehicle models ;)

i was trying a few things you may like some ideas. for example Rusty Star Destroyers for undead stormies

i can make all ships textures like this if you want just let me know and if you want to add or change anything ;)

the only problem with it is that i dont know how to change the textures from death animations :/

and just for adding some quality and "realism" into the mod you could change the engine colors on some ships. that would add some features to the mod and making it more unique or graphically better than vanilla FoC ;) i some edits i made a few mins ago for Rebel ships (B-Wings, MonCal Cruisers, Corellian Corvettes and Nebulon-B Frigates) and Star Destroyer engines. i just wanted to make them look more like the movies.
