the renders accurate but decieving, for example the droid looks like a red R4 unit but when u look at the .dds it has an R2 skin, in game when you circle around the xj x-wing you see under the exhaust vents (by the cockpit) the blue and silver lines that you would see on R2's head, also if you look at the wings half of the red stripe is cut off (also backwards), in the .dds file the skin stripe is fully made, also the top of it (behind the astro droid) just looks like crap it's a poorly done texture and i would have better luck starting it from scratch but it's hard to read as it is, i don't know what exactly is supposed to go where (i dont have any modeling experience or tools either) and Grig i'm aware that the E-wing is more advanced i just like the x-wings better

EDIT: just did some reading, despite the fact that the E-wing is better the XJ X-wing can still out perform the Tie Defender so either one is fine to use

Either one require the R5 line as the R2 line couldn't handle the more complex hyperdrive computers without an extensive overhaul

i wasn't getting technical, i was just stating how the texture was done is all, whether it looks like an R2 unit or an R5 i don't care as long as the skin isn't the skin for the exhaust...

i used common sense, if the XJ X-wing can out perfrom the Tie Defender and the E-wing can out perform the XJ X-wing then the E-wing must be able to out perform the Tie Defender

Not necessarily, the XJ may have a feature that makes them more effective against TIE Defenders that the E-Wing doesn't have.

true, and also not to mention that it's much more favored by new republic pilots over the e-wing anyways back to the model, after working with the textures i found out it cant really be repaired, where the astro droids skin should be placed is the same spot that the wings skin is, so if i were to add the skin for the droid the wings would also have a 2d astro droid on them also where the exhaust vents are, if i wanted to make them black and add a little detail i could do that but the underside of the wing then would be black as well (it's real frustrating)

The E-Wing was the ultimate starfighter - it says so on the numerous websites about it - the XJ was favored by the Republic Pilots because

A: It was far cheaper B: It was easier to maintain because - unlike the E-Wing - numerous parts could be used to repair it and C: The XJ could be programmed to use an R2 astro, it took some doing but it was possible... unlike the E-Wing

The E-Wing has never been matched - save by the Vong Coarlskippers - the TIE line has never been able to produce a fighter that can match its speed and weaponry ergo the E-Wing outmatched the TIE Defenders and Avengers.

I'm not trying to be rude - I personally hate the E-Wing, its one of the dog ugliest fighter I have EVER seen - but its the truth, look on Wikipedia, Wookiepidia and numerous other SW Fighter pages and they all say the same thing.

Tie Defender was never mass produced though, It wasnt a huge threat, in the X-wing series, Isaards revenge a squad of T/Ds showed up and it mentioned how rare those things were, too expensive and complicated to produce. (Not to mention Zaarin and Thrawn fighting over the factories in the Tie fighter game and add ons depleted their numbers)
