My worthless PC is taking ridiculous load times for FOC and I want to reformat. Is there any way to backup my saves for EAW? Why on earth it takes 5 minutes to load a planet and exit game in FOC is beyond me when EAW takes a few seconds.

I noticed FOC loads longer, and I have a good computer.

Anyway, shouldn't this be in Rants and Raves or something?

Just go to Documents and Settings/your name/Application Data/Petroglyph/foc or eaw/Save

Backup the files in there

FoC is longer to load due to equations hector designed to make the game run smoother. The longer load time is for the more efficient game engine.

Sorry I went a bit mad there. My PC easily exceeds the requirments for all my games. All 3 SW games. It's just really annoying waiting for a planet to load when you attack or it's being attacked. Also, I'm trying to figure out why my PC has problems with virtual memory when I have 1GB of RAM.

1 gig of ram is nothing to virtual ram Virtual ram is on your hard disk you set the amount

Follow these instructions to change it Start Control panel System Advance properties tab Under Performance: Setting (For Xp) under performance options: advance Change virtual memory setting.

I think what he means to say, is that his computer is having difficulty allocating ram for FOC, and keeps falling back upon the virtual memory.

Yep, more or less. I have 1GB of physical RAM and 4GB of virtual RAM on it's own partition. I read that virtual RAM is quicker if it's set as a larger file and given a seperate partition to the one the program is located on. The game no longer complains about virtual RAM, but still, I had almost 1GB of virtual RAM before that. The game requires a max of 512MB. What gives? Anyway, I got so peved with the game's slow loading that I turned off my PC during a map load and for some reason, my game loads like it used to. During that time my PC was booting slow too. I'm not sure what was wrong.

Thanks, but it's nothing new to me. I've learned all of this in secondary school.
