Ok, I've put a bunch of mods on my game and it seemed to be working great. But today, I loaded up a galactic conquest I had started a few days ago and it only goes for about 3 seconds before i get an exception error and the game shuts down. If there was an issue with the XML, dat, or pretty much anything else, I would know how to fix it, but this one is something I have no clue on.
It says to check the "exception" file for details, but when I look at that, it's just a bunch of letters and number I don't really understand since I'm not a coder. Is there a way to fix this issue? If I posted the error message, could someone point me at the offending file?
You can only go over the xml code you have added to your files and check for obvious mistakes in the xml coding. things missing that would cause a parse error things like that. Possibly remove those mods you added and try running a new game.
Put them back one by one and eliminate the culprit you might then spot the error in the xml code that way too.
It's definitly an error in the code then? Cause I added some new map stuff too and I'm wondering if that might be the problem. I can't really go in and check the code on those, seeing as I don't have an editor for teg files.
You can also open your XMl files with Internet Explorer, if theres an error in them it should say that there is.

If thats the last thing you added to your files then sure - its most likely that. If you find removing them doesnt solve it then its a problem in your xml files elsewhere.

Where and how would it say that?
It should say somewhere that theres and error, with me I can tell because the page is shortend alot, just scroll around and if doesnt say it, (you would notice it) an see if it says there s an error.
does it crash in about the same spot every time? if it does then the problem might not be your xml coding, if it was the xml the game would crash before the menu loaded, or after you did a specific thing that would triger the crash, otherwise you could have a corrupted save file or your disk is dirty, try cleaning your disk and if that doesnt work as soon as you load your GC save game save it immediately, then load the game using the new save that happened to me once, i would crash at the same point every time without doing anything so i saved it right away, and then when i loaded up the new save there were no crashes
wait, did you start the GC game, save it, add something to the game, then went to play the same saved GC game? cause you cant do that, you need to start a new game everytime you ad something new.
No, I have not changed the configuration of my game since I started the GC. It crashes without an sort of trigger about 3 seconds into loading the game on the main galactic map. I'm goign to try resaving and crap, but feel free to offer any more ideas that may help.
