Hi:cya: 2 days ago i got Max 8. Now i can do a few simple things but making muzzle flashes and bones are beyond me.:confused:
Can anyone help me or provide a tutorial for them. It would be much appreciated. Thanks :D

you needed to use pointers or dummys to make the bones and make a cross to make the flash by making a box then collasing it to have no hight and coping it and roatain it 90% to make a cross them atach the together and name it muzzle*_**_flash frist * is for A B C or what ever you need the ** is for 00 01 02 there you now have a muzzle flash
Mm, muzzleflashes are tricky. No offense knives, but that could have done with better sentance structure and spelling :)
With fighters, you have to name the bones in a certain way, or otherwise they don't show up. The Convention is Muzzle&_**. & being the muzzle letter, A, B etc... and ** being the number of the muzzle. This way, you can put a firing order in, as all under the group MuzzleA fire together, and so on.
What he said was: Make a box in max, and then collapse it so it is a 2d shape, and you can only see two sides. Place that Horizontally onto the bone/muzzle where you want it. Then clone that, and rotate it 90 degrees, so that they intersect each other, and look like + from the front. Attach both of them, and name them after the bone they are meant to be for, ie. MuzzleA_00_Flash. Now, i'm unsure if you have to apply a shader to it. If so, It'd be Mesh_Addictive and the texture is within the Textures.meg. I've created a muzzle flash - it works perfectly. But with one problem: i get the outline of the box around it. All i did was apply the correct shader (Mesh_Addictive) and the texture. What have i done wrong??

please post a pic so we can see what your talking about to know how to help you
If it's in the viewport, then turn edged faces off. If it's in the alo viewer, check the texture you used or your UV on the flash.
