Ok, I know there are a few mods that you can have 1 faction controlled planet at the start, but one is for EAW only, and I have EaW Gold.

The problem with this one - http://empireatwar.filefront.com/file/1_Planet_Galactic_Conquest_Map;105265

I don't have an XML folder by default, which I created and added the files accordingly. However it still doesn't work, and mod launchers just crash.

Any tips? Any better mods?

I just want a full map with all factions starting on one planet.

Making custom GC's with one planet per player starting out is pretty easy to do. You're bigger problem for right now is that it sounds like you don't have you mod folder set up correctly. Have you been able to get any mods to work? If not, then what you should do is go into your FOC folder on your hard drive. Then add a folder called mods. Then in the mods folder add a second folder named ModXXX or whatever you want to call it. In the MOdXXX folder you will need to have a short cut to start up the game and you will need to have a data folder. In the data folder you should add your XML folder. In that XML folder you will need to have an XML file called Campaigns_underworld_gc. I suggest the first thing you should do is try to get someone elses mod working using what i described above. Then try modifying that mod to get the GC campaign you are looking for.

Ok. I've done the following.

I added a Mods folder, in the right spot. I did exactly as you said, inside the folder is the mod, the data folder, XML and proper XML files.

The shortcut I created is just a normal shortcut that leads to the game, I didn't add anything to it.

Once I start the game, nothing is different, no mod looks as if it is installed.

Do I need to do something with the shortcut?

Yes, you do have to do it differently. your shortcut needs to direct the game to the executable file for your mod. The way I have always done this is to use someone else's short cut and executable (just with my own mod contents of course). Whether you choose to use someone else's executable or make your own, I'd suggest you at least look at someone elses mod for an example of how to do it.
