So I've made it so that all my fighter squadrons are groups of 3s.

However, I wanted to make variants of most of these squadrons in groups of 12 - these squadrons would be the ones that can be bought in the galactic mode and in skirmish battles, the 3s would be for being spawned and would be disabled from being built.

My already existing squadrons of three all work fine, I think, or at least most of them do anyways.

Here is the squadron info for the X-wing: (group of 3 x-wings - works fine)

And here is what I entered for the 12 group:

When I tried seeing what it looked like in Map Editor, I saw only two x-wings for this one (what it was is that there are 12 x-wings, but they're overlapping each other), in combat, this translates to when a fighter is shot, it dies, but other x-wings are still in the exact spot it was when it died. This doesn't cause too many problems, but it doesn't look right. Solutions?

Perhaps you can use -45, -30, -15, 0, 15, 30, 45. I don't know much about making a squadron, but when I look in a XML, i see mostly a multiple of 15.

Try looking for a mod on FF that already has a lot of fighters and just copy what they did

Actually, that was what I did, I copied that from z3r0x's because I remembered that his squadrons were largely in 12s. Mmm.... >_>

get rid of it and make a new squadron from scratch,Itl take time but its bound to work

Which one of his mods has it? Did you change the fighter coding:

From this: 5

To this: 12?

(Or however many fighters you have)

Also go to containers and change your offsets there so that theyre the same as the squadron offsets tell me if that works i kinda have it working on mine but two fighters make their own squad for some dumb reason. WTF?? lol

all right im answering again cause i got it now and my coding is this:

This is how i have it now you can probably add more ships by adding another line of (while replacing Vulture_Droid_Fighter with your desired unit of course)-

Vulture_Droid_Fighter, Vulture_Droid_Fighter

Im not sure if it matters but i went to where the fighter is at-

Space_Units_Fighters.xml

And in there i changed * -

*

to however many fighters desired, try it and tell me if it works or not

Good news, I got it working. The problem was the variant xwing had it's own set of ""s, and having these along with the pre-existing ones really messed with it. So I changed the three-man squad of xwings to this, which would carry onto the twelve-man squadron perfectly:

30.0,0.0,0.00.0,15.0,0.00.0,-15.0,0.0-30.0,30.0,0.0-30.0,-30.0,0.0-40.0,0.0,0.0-60.0,45,0.0,0.0-60.0,-45,0.0,0.0-80.0,15,0.0,0.0-80.0,-15,0.0,0.0-90.0,60.0,0.0-90.0,-60,0.0,0.0

Feel free to use this coding for your own uses, just remember to keep it in that exact order or else it'll look different (if there are less than 12 x-wings anyway).

Quick note.

So I tried out the way I had it, and it worked fine, but I didn't like it's look, so I've been tweaking around with it for a while, here is my latest try (but not my last).

In this one, the x-wings are actually stacking on top of each other, which looks wrong in Map Editor, but works fine in game play. However, how I have it set up there looks a little awkward and sort of lacks the triangle formation you'd expect, so I'll be tweaking with it a bit, but yeah, this is here for anyone interested in free semi-crappy xml. Hahaha... ;)
