So I'm nearly done with RotC v5.1 and have run into another problem. See in RotC v5, you cannot smuggle on a Rebel world. This is odd, but I figured it was because they're a fourth faction and whatnot. Now I've just tried another experiment, and Rebels cannot smuggle on other worlds as well.
However, Rebels can conduct bounty hunter missions, and can spy. Does anyone have any idea as to why assassination and spying missions work, but smuggling missions don't?

So, the "Rebel" faction has been modified to something else and you've added the Rebel Alliance in as an expansion faction. Am I understanding this right?
Years ago, I saw a mod that allowed the pirates to be smuggled. Don't remember the name, but if someone else does, it's probably the same concept.
On a similar note, I've been wholly unsuccessful with getting space units and squadrons to smuggle. Do you know if it only works for heroes?
Correct. The 'rebel' faction is now the Republic, and the new Rebellion (the original rebel faction) is the new, fourth faction.
See the thing I don't get is that the new fourth faction can use Assassination (and have it used on them); they can use Spying (and have it used on them); yet they can't use Steal Technology or Smuggling, and neither can be used on them. I've looked through the XML's and the LUA's but I'm just not finding anything there that is specifying factions.
Oh I did also try using the smuggling data but using the Spying code markers - it doesn't work.
As for giving different units the smuggling ability, it should be as easy as giving them the smuggling ability. Never thought about trying it though.
Is the Rebellion a playable faction?
Yup certainly is, using the original 'Rebel' code as the base.
I don't see anything that indicates which factions are allowed to siphon/slice either :(.
Is the Rebellion faction's code at the end of Expansion_Factions.xml?
Have you tried naming the abilities something else and adding them to Activated_Slice_Ability_Names and Activated_Siphon_Credits_Ability_Names in GameConstants.xml?
Otherwise I'm probably stumped...
Um yeah I think that's where I put it, not actually sure...
As for the ability names I really don't think that would change anything, after all the new ability would have the same parameters as the old ability name.
