i am bran-spanking new to this. I simply want to mod my game by making the lazers look like bullets and possibly putting a little more battle talk like...Incoming ordnance! or seal off decks one through 4 and send fire suppression teams! I am not sure if this is possible. I am not sure what program i have to use. At the moment im not looking to put new models and textures in the game just simply make it look less cluttered with large blasters and such. In conclusion what program would i need to use to mod sweaw and or the expansion. what are the basics i need to learn? much appreciated if anyone could give me insight.

There is a link that is called EAW Master Sticky. Shouldn't be too hard to find what you need there.

ok thanks. But i dont know what i have to edit to make my blasters look more like bullets or heavy artillary for the large guns. Under projectiles.xml i found the size and such but what about the color? can i change that?

Try looking at the stargate mod , I recall it having many projectiles like bullets flack pods, missles and the like.You just need to copy the projectile coding and an attached model(if any) :)

If thats to much work just reduce the size of the projectile (say a turbolaser for eg)and increase its speed by 2 or 3 times XXXXXX good luck.

Namedherounits.xml might be a nice place to start. :p I'm assuming you already have access to the XMLs and some idea of how to go about modding them.

You can also just use the mass driver projectiles (or even missiles). Shrink them 300% and speed them up and they will work fine. (Missile model will have to be used in the new projectile coding- you can't use the old coding otherwise you will have "seeking" bullets.)

Sounds/Speech is much harder. You would have to find sound bites and put them into the games sound files in the proper format and then go through the coding adding in the new sounds where appropriate.
