maybe i drink too much while reading the tutorials and trying to model this. but i cant figure out what step i missed. iv got bones, collision mesh, a skin that fits, a model, but i cant seem to get the skin to stick or show up in alo viewer or in game.
i was wondering if someone could take a look at this and see what step i missed. i know its near done. and i dont think its a coding mistake. i'm sure to mess that up later and leave that for another post.
wondering if someone could take a look at my first ugly probably not releasable model. when its done and if it isnt mocked by its ugly edges and sloppy skin, im going to release this.
my guess is i did shaders wrong since i cant seem to find to find meshgloss.fx for my 3ds. i can find meshgloss.fxo but the program wont read it. blah. i have no idea and im way over my unsober head.
oh yeah. in the rar file is my skin.dds and my model.3ds. also a rendered screen shoot from 3ds. if you need anything else, let me know. thanks.
there is probably a million errors in it. from the bones, to how i messed up the invisible muzzle flashes. dont know since this is my first model. any oversight can and will be helpful

ok, so your right you've forgot the shaders. you've also got no shield or collison meshs which is a main reason it wont show up. for it to show up in alo viewer you need it in the base EAW folders which is in the models and texture folders. As for it not sticking to the model your not using the dx9 shaders. I know you said it doesnt read it, but those meshgloss.fxo are the sahders you need to use so once you export the model as an .alo it will pick up the model and textures. you also need to use the sheild fx and collison fx on your meshs. you'll know if you've done it right because it will suddenly appear in the aloviewer :) EAW Modding Tutorials that site is a good one to use in tutorail along with the lots of tutorails on EEAW site. Everything EaW - Powered by vBulletin trawl through you'll find a lot of usful info.hope it all helps.
ok. i thought i had collision mesh. er....... and i still cant get shaders to show up in my material editor.
thanks for swbex link. i never read that tutorial.
am i stupid for not being able to apply shaders? i just cant find this meshgloss.fxo.
There is a model for slave 2 already, in droids mod i think
You have a link? Don't know that mod

Was Droid's mod ever released? I can't recall. If so I'd like to see a link as well. :D

Right your shaders are located in the ART folder then shaders, and yes it is the mechgloss.fxo file, are you using max?? if so open up material editor and select the dx9 shader, then click on the location and go to where you have the meshgloss.fxo shader stored(you'll have to set max to see "all files" so it can see the .fxo file type.... mine are in the max folder for ease. but once you selected that you can then apply a base texture to it which is your .dds.
