This is something that came to mind while playing a gc map last night. Lets say you send a fleet to an enemy planet and they send a fleet from that same planet to the planet you sent your fleet from and instead of just passing by each other a battle is initiated as they meet and the "space battle iminent" thing pops down the screen and away you go. Though right off the bat you would need to create a few deep space maps(one with just empty space, one with asteroids, one with nebulas and one with both asteroids and nebulas) but that could all be done in a short time. What else would need to be done? Would something like this even be possible?
I didn't make it!
Umm I guess that wouldn't make too much sense. If you created a planet right in the middle between two other planets, then you'd only encounter the enemy's fleet there if both fleets started from the two other planets at exactly the same time...and that this happens is so damn unlikely, it isn't worth the effort.
Yeah, I kinda already knew that lol. Don't know why I even put that in there.
I created a .lua script that recognizes when a fleet is not on a planet(in hyperspace.) But it would seem to almost impossible to have the scripts know when your fleet is in route to a planet your enemies fleet left. Though my original idea of finding out if this script can recognize when your fleet was in hyperspace, and away from a planet, was to create side missions where your fleet is pulled out of hyperspace by a gravity well. It would then start a battle in which you could win credits, starships, etc.
sounds 3p1c Sidious :>
Too bad that would have been cool. Although Sidious ideal sounds cool too.
