it is the mastertextfile which once extracted should be placed in the text folder and as Stewie correctly said, it is a .dat file therefore you will need to get the dat editor which works with that particular dat file. (try looking for the link in one of the stickies)

i got mine from lucasfiles, but it rather old i guess, there is not "search" function no "change" function, and it is very hard to use. I have already changed description that i need but i just want more.

the one im using has the two columns - one the for text and one for the text name/id thing. all i do is sort bu whichever to find what im looking for and if worst comes to worst, just make a string wit the same name but add a 01 at the end of the name so it ends up next to the one your after (usually). yeah, its annoying and frustrating but its better than nothing. and like grig said.. google is probably the best bet for more advanced editors.

as far as i know, most of the dat editors released to the community do not have search features. but some you can sort the lines to alphabetical order, and then scroll through to find the one you want.
