Hi! Can someone make a tutorial for noobs how to convert models to .alo format? I've read Swgbex's tutorial but it's to difficunt for me, a person without any modelling experience. You can skip some more advanced issues like engine glows and animations, I only wanna know how to make bones, connect them with 'Root', create hardpoints, add 'Base texture' etc. etc. You may use a model from EvilleJedi's Warlord Models pack as an example because most people will use them. I hope the benefit of this tutorial will be more free models ready to use in community mods. Thanks for any response!
P.S. I hope you understand me, I know my English is still terrible...
P.P.S. Maybe you, ArucarD? ;)
I didn't have any experiance with 3ds when i was reading Swgbex's tutorial but it took me 1 day to make my 1st 100% conversion, and trust me, there aren't any other tuts so use this one or be n00b 4ever
Probably you are right, I become discouraged too quickly. Can you post 1 of your models in just-before-conversion form (obj, max or 3ds file format, all hardpoints and texture informations present). It should resolve my problems.
Well, i can, but about the hardpoints. YOU MUST MAKE THEM YOURSELF !! the models don't have any hardpoints. Don't follow the hardpoint tutorial because it's too hard, i've found my own method to do them. In the 3dsMAx 8 panel in te upper part you have something called Character, press it and chose Bone Tools. Then experiment with making bones and then rename them to HP00, HP01 etc. (Was the hardest thing when i was making my 1st converison.) Or i can send you later my Core Ship with Hardpoints when i finish it (But it won't be turned into .alo )
I mean fully converted model in any importable format (not .alo). You can send/upload your Republic-class Destroyer model :) Thanks for your advice about the hardpoints!
I deleted Republic-class destryer .3ds format because i got fully working .alo. Just wait untill i finish the Sovereign. I'll send you it as 3ds with hardpoints etc.
how do i say... add hardpoints with out having to make another model (my Venator) and having to code it. Please dont ask about my stupid question but i dont know much about modeling and adding hardpoints
There is no possiblity !! The Venator can't have more hardpoints because it doesn't have more bones. Bones are modelling things that you put on model while you model it. For example. If you put 20 bones on a model it will be able to have up 20 hardpoints on it. But since the venator doesn't have more bones, there is no chance of getting more hardpoints on it.
ok...ok dang u dont have to be angry geesh........now all i want is still....a moddelng tutoiral
I am not angry, i'm just trying to tell you that you just CAN'T add more hardpoints without making new model.
