how to disable chasing units? -1 reply

Heres the problem... my AT-AT's see a unit...they start to shoot at it, then the enemy unit turns tail and runs away... the problem is the at-at's follow it and get killed. Does anyone know how I can disable what ever it is that makes the At-at's chase them? I just want them to stand their ground... not chase after the enemy...

Do they also follow the units when there's FOW?

yeah they do... its really anoying.. I just want them to stand their ground not wander off chasing the enemy and into turbo laser towers.

If you want the easy choice, group your AT-ATs, and keep an eye on them. Be ready to click the stop order over and over when they attack something.

Otherwise, you might try editing your xml files (assuming EAW) Open ground vehicles ctrl+f 'AT_AT' Till you hit a line that looks like this Then ctrl+f 'chase till you hit this block 0.0200.0150.05.0ATATAntiEverything100.0 and set both Guard_chase_range and Autonomous_Move_Extension_Vs_Attacker to 1.0 or 0.1

However, create a back up for your xml before you do this, in case you want to replace it :eek:

Again this is for EAW and my best guess, hope it helps

Well I have the same issue in FoC, and I just pound the stop button or tell them to march a little bit forward.

yeah I think everyone does that but I'm trying to find a way to make units stand their ground and not move without micro managing them

In xml\ai\players\ folder open up sandboxhumanplayer.xml, and add this...

GenericFreeStoreGenericFreeStore

or if that doesn't work......

then in the campaigns.xml, add this to the campaign your playing....

Empire, SandboxHuman

Hopefully, this is it! I got it to work once before, but this version is untested. Let me know if it does.
