Hello, this event always breaks gameplay for me and I don't know how to disable it without touching other events. Please help.

Hello and thanks. The event's name is Scientific Breakthrough or something like this. It raises your technology level by one and happens randomly to Rebels, not sure about Empire tho. I would like to disable it because it always cripples gameplay imo. Without it you need to steal every technology and the game is more challenging. Normally it happens often and gives you all technologies for current tech level and makes C3PO team kinda useless.
My guess would be to find it the right campaign xml then just delete those lines. The only problem is I don't know which xml thats in!
It would be a found in the story_plot file, EX: Story_plot_sandbox_rebel_56.xml. Just delete the line that activates the story line you want to get rid of.

EDIT: I just checked MasterTextFile for some entries and it looks like Windfall event is responsible for tech upgrade. I still need to test it.
Tested and it works. No more game breaking technology updates. Thanks I have another question: I find getting money too easy. In EAW planets original credit values are insignificant (except Bespin) because you can build mines everywhere and they give lots of money. Can someone give me a hand and tell me how to make mines buildable only on few planets (like Cantina or Hutt Palace) so they would be available only on mineral rich planets (and make game more strategic)?
In the Mine structure xml code look for it will only be buildable on the planets listed there.
Windfall is also responsible for unit windfall, and planet windfalls. So you disabled those to.
Can you put this line under Empire_Ground_Mining_Facility in Specialstructures.xml and then start any galactic conquest without doing anything else? I'd like to know if that works too.
(So as overall question: can you still build Mining Facilities with the Empire after putting in this line)
