As in title, I made Lancet fire with "single-half-second-long-shot" instead of "fire-till-target's-destroyed-beam", still basing on Lancet drain life ability. So ok, it works but Lancet fires only when I command it to attack, it will never be smart enough to shoot anything itself, even if there is entire Alliance army below it. I tried everything and I though it was impossible for some time, but since I played AotR in which there are IFT-T (TX-130) tanks using Lancet beam ability and firing automatically I know there is a way to do it. Any help?

And here is the problem, if it was the hardpoint/projectile based thing it wouldn't be hard to solve. But it's special ability.

Anyone else?

Look at AotR's coding for that special ability and just copy it onto yours

Err will it work if I put unit ability in hardpoint code? I thought hardpoints can only fire projectiles. And I don't want it to fire projectile.

Well, since you have it not firing indefinitely and since it doesn't absorb any health, it may actually be worth turning that ability into a projectile like some of the various ones on LAATs and hover tank models.

If you wanted it to absorb the health from the enemy or fire indefinitely, this very well may not work (at least with the drain/absorb deal), but since it fires for such a short time, it could very well function better as a projectile than an ability.

Did I say it doesn't absorb health? It does, but Lancet could be more kind and use the gun ITSELF instead of me pointing every hostile unit... ¬_¬ I don't want it to be projectile-based. I've already made a beam-like projectile with mike.nl's editor and I could use it, but it's not perfect. It looks much cooler if I use standard Lancet drain life ability. And if TX-130 from Steiner fires its beam automatically (however everyhting seems to be set the same way), Lancet also can.

I think it has something to that it's an air vehicle. Land units also don't fire at air vehicles if you don't command them to. But there must be some explanation.

Sorry for taking so long, what you are talking about at the end is the targeting priorities, and believe me, those won't make a difference because the Lancet has an attack air only vehicles priority, and that priority only applies to the two turrets on the back of the Lancet that target snow speeders.

Yeah, I know. But if I change some of these parameters I can make Lance target land units with these turrets, so why not the main cannon? Again, there must be a way...
