My question is quite straight forward really, is it possible to increase the number of planets in the campaign?
I also thought that the main campaign is just too small, I remember a star wars game from the mid 90s called star wars supremacy (rebellion in the US) which had 200 planets featured in the galaxy and was basically a longer slower more strategic version of EaW. I really liked this game because it gave the rebels a chance to build up their strength before confronting the empire, something EaW does not.
it is possible, but the coding can become difficult. if you've learned to mod and have the right tools, then the info soon to come shall help you do it.
alright so open up your .xml editor (or what ever you use) and open up planets.xml there you should see the entire list of planets in empire at war / FOC. Copy a planets xml (make sure for whatever planet your copying has the right climate. hence alderaan is a temperate, tatoonie is a desert. once you have that copied and pasted, you should see like money income for the planet and a few other things, change that to the ones you like. The is a little tricky, find a neighboring planet and try to guesstamate where the new planet would be. then you need a DAT editor, (google it and one for empire at war should pop up.) th dat editor lets you type the information, such as species, abilities, and the like. this is all of the coding for text info

Is there a limit to the number of planets allowed on the galactic map?
Not to my knowledge. just keep making planets testing each one. and if the game crashes after you put like a bunch in, then theres a limit, but i highly doubt theres a limit
OH! one thing i forgot to mention, for each planet you make you need a space map and a land map (or just a space)
I think that the limit is the galaxy background space and on special your computer, you will need a powerful computer if you want move a galaxy map with 200 planets by example.
How other example I have made one with 105 planets and I run it on a PIV3ghz, 3gb ram, geforce7600gt and I can play it with full detail but I have played one french mod with 190 planets and I could not run it, too slow.
are there any good mods with bigger campaigns already out, I think that if I can adapt my idea to an already released mod then it would reduce my workload.
there is an older mod that adds in about 50 planets but i forgot the name it is something like a war without end
steiner's advanced units. however, nearly every planet is a duplicate.

There is lots of stickes and tutorials around if you wan tto learn about this stuff, it is very easy to do.
