Hi, is anyone else having any problems with the Alamo Object Importer? I've been using it for a while now with no problems but over the last couple of days when I try to run the script it causes the session of 3ds max to crash. I'm using version 8 on Vista. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks, John.

remove the plugins for the importer and re-install them,

also check your configuration for 3ds max 8 and make sure its running in "XP service pack 2" vista and old max version do seem to like each other to much

if this does not work go here and PM mike and let him know - Petroglyph Forums (Powered by Invision Power Board)

X

Thanks X, no joy with that I'm afraid. Will try Mike on the Petroglyph Forums. Thanks again, John.

Have you increased the heap allocation, per the installation instructions? The Importer does require quite a bit of memory / system resources to run, so if you're low, it could crash Max. My advice: don't use it with ten windows open and restart if you've been running a lot of intensive programs.

Hi Chandler, yeah I have the heap allocation way up. I've used the importer a good bit over the last few months with no issues but have been having this problem over the last couple of days. I spoke to Mike on it and he has no idea. I've even gone as far as uninstalling and re-install 3ds max, but it's still no working. I can use unwrap3d as a work-around so it's not the end of the world, but it's still quite puzzling..... John.
