Some time ago I used to play EaW, now I'm back to it. And here goes my questions:

1. Is there any database of models I could use? I'll be looking for few models myself soon, but I want to limit myself to only a handful of choices (as too many of them confuses AI); Specifically I'm searching for ships such as Lancer, Dreadnought, Assault Frigate Mk.1, Bulwark. Hardpoints are priority for me - as I like to destroy them in battle. BTW, can (and if yes, how) I add new destructible hardpoints to a model?

2. What about Clone Wars space/land units?

3. Are there any total conversion mods around here? I'm aware of Phoenix Rising existance and enjoy it very much - however, it's too laggy for me :( Also, I like the possibility to destroy various hardpoints ;)

There are quite a few free-use models out there, but there isn't a database.

With things like the Lancer, Assault Frigate etc my suggestion would be to do a search for mods on filefront that use them, and then ask the mod-maker if you can use the models. With the Dreadnought, there is a great model by EvilleJedi (I think) from the Warlords model pack that you can use, you just have to credit him and the guy who converted it.

With Clones Wars stuff, same kinda thing. There are some easily findable units, and there are others that are much harder to find if you can at all - again, a mod search is your friend.

I think your best bet is to download a few mods with those ships in them, and see if the mod author is kind enough to allow you to use them. Of course it wont matter if its only a private mod - no such requests need to be made.

I think that you should ask first to the guy who converted it.

I've already found many mods with diffrent models, but unfortunately most of them have non-targetable hardpoints. I hoped you'll save me some searching ;)

Nice examples of such mods are Phoenix Rising and Awakening of the Rebellion, which I'm now playing. However, I liked the micromanagement of vanilla - simply selecting target vessel is not enought for me. Not mentioning that having every surviving unit at the end of the combat is dumb enought - I don't need to have heavilly damaged yet still firepower-full units :(

And, as I'll be using some bigger battlefields, I plan to allow many more units to the fight, thus creating micromanagement nightmare ;) Player will be able to cripple specific parts of enemy battlelines by disabling some hardpoints in specific places, making real tactical maneouvers possible..

Thanks for answers

Keraumos, you can MAKE hardpoints. The only thing you need from the model is bones in the right places.

You really don't have say as to wheather or not he can use it if it's not your Model (Unless it's Evilles stuff).

Where would this mythical database be? I'm allways on the look out for nice new models that I could use in my personal mod.
