As usual, I was playing around with particle editor and came up with this:

Something that looks like Malevolence ion cannon blast. Looks good (at least in particle editor, haven't tested that in-game) but there's one problem - it's horizontal. Not sure how to make it vertical (though I'm sure it is possible). I got some ideas I may try out later.

Anyway if anyone wants it, grab it in attachment :)

it's horizontal. Not sure how to make it vertical (though I'm sure it is possible)

Particle editor Physics is the solution, if you change the x/y/z from particle, probably you can put it on vertical.

About the particle, it looks very good, I have not tested it but I suppose that it should be the flash from one invisible proyectile, perhaps one ion shot.

It can't be done with particle editor. Ring is a field of particles so I could affect only one of them or make them all appear in one place (when using "Exact" position type). Now it's using "Cylinder" type which is only able to make a horizontal ring.

I'm thinking of something different... Just give me a moment.

EDIT: Whoah, I did it. Just a moment before I got no idea what to do and suddenly I got it.

Download in attachment, P_malevolence_projectile.alo is the main file.

Position the particle as a proxy in a Max file and then export. The particle entry might need the scale behavior to work, but I'm not sure.

when i try to download it and exctract the zip file i dont get an .alo file
