Has anyone changed the unit capacity for land battles in galactic conquest games? The battles are way to slanted in the defender's favor - he gets a million garrison units that can't die without destroying the buildings, and all he has to do is prevent the enemy from taking more reinforcement points. You could attack with a hundred units and still lose, because you can only bring down 3-5 units at a time. In the later stages of the game, when the enemy has many units guarding their planets, victory becomes virtually impossible except with the "auto resolve" feature. The game would be really fun - except the battles are far too frustrating. You end up thinking "WTF? This is so stupid."

Yes or increase the pop cap. However a too high one may make the game lag alot.
maybe the answer to this problem isnt increasing the pop cap, but rather developing new strategies. The battles are supposed to be biased towards the defending team (it is their planet, after all) and the attacking team has to take the initiative
or you could just increase the pop cap, i think theres some mods out there that can do that for GC

That's why the emperor lost the battle of endor. He had "an entire legion", but he could only send down three squads at a time, and the ewoks could respawn. Got any links to these mods?
The space battle pop guys how do we make it bigger
file factions.xml, (line 35 for rebels, 829 for imperials). Change this to whatever you want, but if you make it too high you can end up with extremely laggy battles

Increasing land pop cap in GC is a problem, because there is a physical limit at 10 units. I seem to remember seeing a mod once that fixed it, but i cant find it, so this will have to do: http://empireatwar.filefront.com/file/EAW_and_FoC_Unit_Cap_Mod;72675x#1133678 this mod increases land skirmish pop cap, i dont know how because i dont play skirmish and have never tried modding it
one of the comments on that mod also proposes the idea of increasing the number of units per company to get around the GC land pop cap problem, which would probably work quite well.
