I'm hoping I can get some direction on how to mod at what tech level heroes become available. I'm pretty new to modding, and have been able to figure a good bit of it out, but this just eludes me. Specifically, I'm using Absolute Corruption Mod, and I'd like to have Vader available at tech level 4. In ACM, Vader is a unique buildable hero at tech level 5 who uses a Star Destroyer in space. I simply can't locate any text in the .xml files that might lead to his activation at any tech level. Nor can I locate any text that might give me a clue in the lines for similar heroes (e.g. Boba Fett). Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Heroes are spawned with events.

Look for STORY_SANDBOX_XX_EMPIRE.XML ( XX is a number ) There are many of those, one for each campaign.

There will be something like this in the code

STORY_TECH_LEVEL4

This is the trigger for the tech level, Event_Param1 is the tech level

STORY_TRIGGERSPAWN_HERODarth_TeamCorulagEmpire_AI_Heroes_09Empire_AI_Heroes_09 is the prereqisite, this should be the event name of the tech level.

I hope that makes sense. have a look through the xml, it'll makes things more clear
