Hello, New to EaW...lol. I would like to know what the engine wants the model to be(I have 3ds Max 8 and the .ALO plugin, btw). Example: What hierarchy the engine wants, what should be on the mesh, making shadows etc. etc. ? I've tried googling for an ansrew, but no prevail. Anyone think they can help a noob EaW 'modder'...lol, or atleast pointed in the right direction?(Excuse the sig, LOL) Thx, -GRUNT158
Porter? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! Is that what they call Rigging these Days?
.alo is what you need for models, and i hope porter means rigging, otherwise, you can be in a boat load of trouble
Why is it when people in this community see the word "port" they think it causes problems??
The bottom line here is that as long as you get permission from the original creator of a work then reconverting/porting a model from one game to another is perfectly fine.
Grunt. Look around the EaW site and forum. There are tutorials for this. One particularly good one was done by Swgbex (can't remember the URL link of the top of my head), but you could start of by using the ALO viewer and looking over some of the games stock models.
Major A Payne;3990592Why is it when people in this community see the word "port" they think it causes problems??
Because there are so many people like Nomada and CT17/CT16/JakeGreen.
And the link would be EAW Modding Tutorials
Thx, Major A Payne...why does your name sound familiar? Anyway thx for the helpful info:) And yes i do "port" WITH permission from the original author, just for a totally different game:borg:
codeuser. Considering the amount of time I've spent in various modding communties I'm fully aware of why porters are an unwelcome breed, but remember that not everyone is a model abuser.
Grunt. I've modded and released models for BC, SFC3 (ported by other people), Star Trek Armada 1/2 and EaW (mods done directly by me).
^ Unwelcome, The good kind is somewhat a Rare Breed then :p.. We have two Breeds! :O.
I know you're familiar with porters, Major. I just wanted some examples for emphasis.
