i have a flaw in your all masterful plan to use the root bone, its facing the wrong way, if you use the Root bone then it will fire sideways, check the ALO viewer, the red line is the way it fires.

yeah, add a hardpoint for the torps, then the lasers are unaffected

still a problem, if i'm understanding this correctly the bones that fire the lasers are forward and they are already in use so i can't add protons to them, all of the other bones would fire sideways so that would mean that they would shoot at a weird angle or not at all, it seems the only way to add new hardpoints that work would be to add new bones to the model, and since i'm poor at the moment it seems that i'm stuck if i'm understanding everything correctly

if u cant have them combined used the switch weapon ability, that might be your best bet then....

switch weapon would be a pain though to have to click whenever i wanted them to fire torpedos
