It's me Mobbmann, I made absolute corruption mod 2.4. At any rate I was having an issue where some people report that well into the custom campaign that some units would simply get stuck over a planet... the unit would confirm it's moving but when you look again it never moved and sometimes disappears when you go to planet view but reapears when you go to galactic view but still wont move...it happens with different units on different planets but seems to happen well into the campaigns like day 200 and up for the most part. I was wondering if anyone could help me pinpoint what the problems might be, I have been told by some that it only happens with my custom campaigns but I cant be sure about that since only one person reported that. Personally I think it could be ram usage, too many planets, or too high pop cap or combination of all the last three... I really need some help here...

I swear I read somewhere about that having to do with loading autosaves.

Yes probably it is the problem from autosaves and save always on the same file, eaw/foc uses big save files and sometimes they are corrupted. Save your game always on a new file and never with the use a autosave and you should not have problems with it. There is a thread on eeaw forum about it.

Are you sure? I have alot of people asking about this and I thought it was wierd... I never use autosave but I'm sure others do... at any rate, I think there might be something else going on also... its wierd that people report it with only this mod and not with others, also they report that vanilla FOC works fine, So I ask you again, are you 100 percent sure it's not something else also?

Lately I have ended without problems a galactic conflict on a mod with many units and 83 planets. I have ended other two with 90.

I believe I know what you're referring to when the RAM is taxed and you can't move something, as I've seen that a handful of times, but I've never had the issue reported for PR as a bug.

ok thanks chandler... so you saying that it's basically the ram? if so it's what I always suspected... I guess I'll have to remove a few planets in the galactic map and maybe drop the pop cap a point or two per planet... any other ideas that might be causing it?

Don't know for certain; it might be two separate issues. I've only had it happen to me on alpha builds when my system seems to be running slow. As I said, it hasn't been reported yet - and you know our campaigns can create some lag.

I wish I could tell you more, but it's been a while since it's last happened... and I've seen EaW do a lot of weird things over the years.

The good news is, it should be testable: open up 3ds Max, Photoshop, the Map Editor - whatever you've got that sucks RAM - and launch the mod. Hopefully you can induce the bug. If that happens, close those programs and it should go away... assuming Windows doesn't lock up in the process. Then you'll know for certain if it's a performance issue.
