Alright, so I made a new type of AT-AT, its roughly twice as big, and twice as powerful. I call it the AT-X1. Someday when I buy max it will have its own model. But the problem is, whenever I try to change the skin, the skin of the normal AT-ATs changes too. How do I make it different?

copy the model and give it a new name then use a hex editor to open the model and change the skin it uses to the one you want it to use then all you need to do is code it in (copy & paste)

in the hexeditor the name of the skin is a .tga file... does that mean you have to put a .tga file in the textures folder instead of a .dds?

nope, u would have to convert it to dds.

so let me get this straight, all i need to do is copy the .alo model (in this case Ei_trooper.alo for my 501st), give it a unique name, open the renamed model in hexedit and change the name of the skin to the skin i have in my textures folder?
