I'm gonna sound really retarded here for a second -

I have no XML files ANYWHERE in either FoC or EaW Data folders. I've only got the MEG files, with only one XML file which is labelled "mega files"

So I have no idea how to mod then, where exactly... did the XML files go?

Thanks guys.

Also: There was this mod for EaW that didn't work for the newer versions or for FoC, it basically made it so that units didn't take up any of the population cap - does anyone know what to edit to make it like that? Thanks.

You need to either get a .MEG extractor, or install the FoC map editor to get the xml's. I suggest the latter, since the names are of the files aren't all in capital letters. You may also be able to download the files on FF.

once you do install the map editor (it is the easiest way to get the XML) it will all be in the mods folder... Mods/Source/XML or sumthin like tht

Awesome! Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

I don't suppose anyone knows the answer to my other question?

(how to make units not take up population cap?)

Open each of the unit XML files with either notpad or wordpad and find this tag:

Then edit the value to whatever you like and save.

Awesome! Thank you so much.

Hmm, odd - even though I changed all the values to zero, it still seems to count towards the population count. I'll try to figure it out. Thanks.

(sorry for double post, can't edit my post)

I changed ALL the I could find to zero, yet when I go into skirmish, it still costs unit population to build a ship. Anyone have any idea what's wrong? Or am I not finding something?

I believe there's another line that controls the population value in skirmish.

If you are editing the population value of an infantry unit, then you need to change the value in the groundcompaniesrebel.xml, or groundcompaniesempire.xml, as well as the base unit. Companies are just a grouping of the units found in groundinfantry.xml. If you want to edit the spaceunitfighters, then edit the population values in squadrons.xml.

Ah, that would make sense - do you know which line that would be?

Thanks Sidious, I haven't tried ground battles yet, but I think I will now!

Ok, yep, same problem in both skirmishes - land and space, I'm assuming the values I changed just regarded the GC game. Does anyone know the line that corresponds to Skirmish battles?
