Hello, I recently bought EaW, and while I'm waiting for the expansion pack and the cool mods currently in the work I want to make at least a better galactic conquest map with some subtile changes (research time/costs to make progress a little smaller) and some other minor things. Not sure if it worths releasing it, but I will do nevertheless, maybe someone will have fun with that too :) Most important IMO is adding more planets to the galaxie map. While I followed that descriotion here : http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=245132 adding planets is really quite easy (as long as I copy entries, I have no time making new planet-maps), but there is one error remaining that I can't figure out. My new planet is still named "missing" when lauching the game. I made the entry in the dat-file like written in that tutorial, but it's still not working. Maybe there needs to be a second entry in the dat-file ? Besides changing the name in Planet.xml I left all entries like alderaan, maybe the games dislikes some double entries here (of course I changed the other stuff like mentioned here, i.e. the new position. Everything works fine, just the name is missing :) ) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :) Starman

You've already done whats needed in the DAT and planets.xml files. These files just contain information the game draws from when you launch a specific campaign (GC mode), since each GC game as a unique number of planets. Inside the file "CAMPAIGNS_SINGLEPLAYER.xml" is the code used to actually set up the map for each campaign. You need to add the planets to this file (as well as trade routes and starting units/sructures for the planet).

To edit the big campaign (Galactic Conflict), scroll down to the following line:

Underneath this you'll find two campaigns, one for the Empire and one for the Rebels. Within both of these you'll find a list of planets found between the markers "". Just add the planets to these lists using the ID you put in the marker in planets.xml (for instance Abregado Rae is "Abregado_Rae"). Doing this should add the planet titles to the map once you restart the game.

I already did that :) But it still isn't working. I used the name from the tutorial (Chandrilla) to be sure everything works. There is no tippo either (at least none I see). The planet is in the game and is "usable" and all, but it's still called "missing". Any other Ideas ? Maybe there is a certain Syntax that must be used and I made wrong.

Nevermind, I found it. The entries are case-sensitive (not sure that's the right word for it). I wrote : TEXT_OBJECT_STAR_SYSTEM_Chandrilla in the planets.xml, but the dat-file has saved the planetname in capital-letters, that's why it didn't show up Now it's time to start up my SW Rebellion and dig out a few good planet names :) BTW, are there any good planet-maps for download available, so I can create some really new planets :)

Hm, sorry for making 3 posts after each other, but I can't edit my previous post anymore. As I mentioned, I want to make a new Galactic Conquests map, but I don't want to mod to much (because of the lack of time). But there still two things left I would like to have, which should be rather easy (for people knowing the game better than me). So I would be happy if you could answer me two more questions : 1) What do I have to do to make the Venator-Class (currently inserted as unique unit "Jedi-Cruiser" ) buildable by the empire at techlevel 1 2) More important, I want to mulitply the research costs for both fractions by the factor 10. Where are the values placed that I need to change for that ?
