Ok I have been looking at Lua's and how they work for a little time now. I decided to try and test one out. Here's my question: Whenever I try and open a LUA file my computer comes up with a message saying that it doesn't know which program to open it with. How do I get my computer to recognize .LUA files?

Right click on it and select "Open with Notepad" or something like that...

Look at the .lua's given with the editors for both EAW, and FOC. Some are not decompiled, but the ones that came with the editors are.

Open the decompiled ones with Notepad.

"Open with notepad" doesn't appear by the list. I've tried this with both the compiled and decompiled ones.

Uhhh, that's because you have to select the "Open with..." option and choose wordpad or notepad from the list.

That's not there either, all that is there is "Open" and when I click that is when it gives me the message.

Ok got it working with both Notepad and Wordpad.

Here is what the PLANTSPYPLAN.LUA looks like in Notepad:

LupQ ¶ “hçõ}A =(none) require pgevents Definitions SpyForce_Thread SpyForce_Production_Failed SpyForce_No_Units_Remaining , DebugMessage %s -- In Definitions tostring Script IgnoreTarget Category Scout_Planet TaskForce SpyForce DenyHeroAttach Probe_Droid_Team = 1 %s -- Done Definitions A … Å Y € G € € A Ÿ Ç Á … Å Y € < DebugMessage %s -- In SpyForce_Thread. tostring Script Sleep ð? AssembleForce SpyForce BlockOnCommand Move_To Target LandUnits Set_Plan_Result & %s -- SpyForce Done! Exiting Script! ScriptExit % A … Å Y A Y … Å Y A Y Å ÆÀ … Y Å Å Y Å †A € Y A … Å Y … Y€ € J DebugMessage 4 %s -- Abandonning plan owing to production failure. tostring Script ScriptExit A … Å Y Y€ € O DebugMessage : %s -- All units dead or non-buildable. Abandonning plan. tostring Script ScriptExit A … Å Y Y€ € A Y " ‡ b Ç ¢ â G €

And for some reason it doesn't let me post what it looks like in Wordpad. Is this what it is supposed to look like?

Nope. Download the EaW/FoC map editor, then go into your mods folder and there is a folder called "Source" in there which contains all the LUAs ready for editing plus all the XMLs.

Thank you! I was looking in the wrong folder and messing with the wrong LUAs. I can't wait to learn LUA editing.
