Do you know how the x-wing replaces the z-95? Well how do you mod it so it also replaces for instance the victory destroyer at tech 5 with an new "improved" vsd so you don't end up with two vsds buildable?
i know where the z95 to xwing is, it is in the xml Story_Universal_Triggers_R_EXP
Just copy the parts that apply to the z95 to Xwing into another folder with info about what you want to change it to.
Is it possible to code a ship to become available to build only after another ship of the same faction was destroyed, using this code?
Maybe but I think it would take some LUA editing.
