I'm having a bit of a problem in a mod I am working for FOC 1.01 I knew how to increase the pop cap size of a planet in EAW and make the ground forces stay on the planet instead of being forced to be in orbit.

I edited gameconstants.xml and planets.xml

but nothing has changed when zoomed in on the planet and I look at the ground layout - on the left hand side it says pop cap 10/10 ?

Anyone any idea how to change this so ground units don't get forced in to orbit ?

Im not a expert but this may happen due a ground layout- hom much ground unit slots it show?? If there are 10 slots, 10 units only can be on surface (probably)

Your probably right. There was a way of forcing the units to stay on the ground though - even though you couldn't increase the ground unit slots themselves - you could get the units to stay on the planet kind of stacked with the other ground units,.

But how to show that on base layout? Also, when comes to battle that may cause some problems- two atats with 1m distance beetwen or even penetrating (damn how to write this?) themselves. But with infantry this may work without problems.

Thats what I mean exactly .. There must be some way of changing the base layout view. Unless of course it is hard coded in the exe that is.

here is the line in GameConstants.xml

10

If you increase that value it does indeed let more forces stay on the planet - instead of placing them in orbit. However in the base layout view - it still has the unit cap as being '10' instead of the amount you had increased it to. I am now thinking the damned thing is hard coded - its probably going by the amount of slots on the planet. So like there are 10 slots.

Only thing that may be hard coded in .exe is limit of 10 units- but you said it can be changed. The problem is number of ground slots on the planet- must use the map editor to add more slots for units.

ahh that could really make sense if thats the case. Perhaps I'll check the new map editor out.

Did you figured something?

Or pop cap can't be changed due to base layout?

You can trick the pop cap so you can keep more units on the planet so they don't get forced to stay in orbit - by using that bit of code I posted above - increase that to 50 or what ever and more will stay on the planet.

However in base layout view, no it will say like '12/10' units in the pop cap. So what ever controls that bit I need to find. Might well be only changed in the map editor ?
