I'm having several problems with my land map for skirmish. It´s two players. If I should post more details, please tell me. I hope some of the following questions are wellknown and have been answered before, though a search of this forum didn't bring up answers.

1) I placed 2 REINFORCEMENT_POINT_PLUS3_CAP with 'neutral' as affiliation. Why is my pop. cap _not_ increasing when capturing those points?

2) Why can't I see enemy units on the radar map?

3) Why can I 'build' only up to tech level 3. I. e., I cannot buy/research levels 4 or 5? Note: For both sides I placed only light vehicle factorys, no heavy or advanced. I that the reason?

4) How can I prevent the game from showing Alderaan's description when loading the game?

5) Is there a way to have a map preview of custom maps in the skirmish menu?

1) that works for Galactic Conquest. You know how when you invade a planet you pop cap starts off at 3 and then as you capture more landing zones, it goes up. in skirmish your pop cap already starts off at 10 (the max) and cant go any higher unless some1 were to change the XML file to make it go higher. 2) there are 2 reasons for this 1- either they are hidden by the FOW (fog of war) and you cant see them until they are in your unit reveal range

Thank you, delta62, that helped a lot. It´s strange, I didn´t even see enemy units when they were in my own base! Now I added a sensor array for each side, and it´s ok now. I have more questions, but I try to figure out some of them on my own ;)

Exactly. These previews are used in (at least) two places. First, the loading screen of land (and space) battles together with planet descriptions and modificators (like weather, wild life, indigenous). Second, the Skirmish menu where you can select the map you want to play. Maybe I have to edit XML files... but then, how would I create such a preview? It must be done automatically, since I cannot place the camera in this angle (directly overhead) in the map editor...:Puzzled: Anyone got some thoughts on this?

Well, I found the answer by myself: Initially, the map previews were created with the editor itself. See the grayed-out instruction "Generate map preview image" in the menu 'Tools'? That should be it. Now that I´ve played the FoC demo, I wonder how the base layout images are created - probably the same way, since objects like garrison points/ground structure slots etc. are represented by markers in the map file. Anyone got the FoC map editor? I´d like to know if this function is available there.

Nope. I don't have map editor but I actually asked exactly the same question not so long ago... Answer available here:Petrolution » Ground Combat Revisons - Revora Forums

Interesting - thanks for the link. Does that mean that Base layouting in GC is impossible for custom made maps (planets)? Is that button invisible or what? I´d look it up myself if I could call FoC my own :uhm:

That's what I think. What I understand is that this option should work, but it doesn't. So probably either CTD or something like that..
