Question: Adding a hanger to Mon Cal cruisers. -1 reply

Hi, I'm new here, and registered to ask this question. I've checked most of the tutorial topics and FAQs, but couldn't see anything that would have answered my question. If a tutorial or something does contain this information, then I'd be most grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, and am sorry for wastign people's time. Thanks in advance. I've had EaW:FoC for a week or so, and have already made a large number of tweaks and changes to tailor it to my needs, so I'm reasonably confident playing about with XML. However, the one thing I would like to do, but have absolutely no idea how to, is to have the Mon Cal cruiser spawn a few fighters in a similar manner to the ISD. I'm reasonably good at modding in XML, but I'm not sure where to start at all here. I tried copying over the lines from the ISD entry, such as... TIE_Fighter_Squadron, 45TIE_Fighter_Squadron, -1 But to no avail. I'm guessing I need to add some sort of "Hangar" hardpoint to the Mon Cal? Is this the case? And if so, could someone tell me what I need to do to accomplish this, as I have no idea? Thank you in advance...

Well, hangar is (propably) required to make a vessel spawn fighters. You must have a hangar hardpoint in MonCal

Yeah, I thought so. How do I do that though? I looked at this thread below http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=245462 And it just confused me more. Do I have to add in a new hardpoint for the Mon Cal, or replace an existing one? I could probably manage to eventually figure out the latter myself, but I'm not at all sure how to do the first, which I would prefer to do, as it would open up future modding possibilities for me. Thanks for your help though.

Use an existing bone, Make the gun emplacement non-targetable and make a hangar over i t.

Well, I played Ultimat EaW v 3.2.2 and they replaced MonCal's one of turbolaser batteries with hangar. You must do the same or edit a unit model and add a new "bone" (or how it is called). You should ask someone with more experience, i'm not a modder (yet)

Its easy to add more than one thing to ONE hardpoint.

Meh, sorry to sound like a noob, but could you explain exactly what you mean by that? I've never fiddled about with the hardpoints file before, so am not entirely sure what I'm doing. I tried making the changes you said, giving one of the ion cannons the SPAWN_00 ability, and making it non-targetable, but that didn't work (ie: no fighters spawned, eve though I kept the above changes I made in the SpaceUnitsCapital file), and left a big chunk missing out of the ship:lol:. I obviously got something wrong, so could you walk me through it? Like I say, sorry if I sound like a demanding noob, but I have only have FoC a week, and still have a lot to learn. Thanks for your help though. It is appreciated.

Sorry, i cant help you no longer:( , i told you evrything i know. As i told earlier, ask somebody with experience in coding or modeling. Kalo Shin: maybe you tell him who got experience in these?

Just wanted to thank the people here who offered helpful suggestions. I figured out how to do part of what Kalo Shin said, and managed to replace one of the Ion Cannons with a hanger, and it's working fine. Not the best solution, but a couple of Y-Wings + Z95s make up for the loss of the Cannon. Hopefully. Thanks again.
