Simple Question, Simple Answer {Please!} I'm curious to know, having never modded an RTS myself, if it'd be possible to simply mod out the Consortium entirely from "Forces of Corruption". :D Though I enjoy the new Imperial and Rebellion units, the base-overview and even the new Galactic Campaigns - I simply despise the Consortium. No, I don't want to hear why they 'aren't cheap' - nor do I wish to debate whether or not they're integral to the 'fun factor'. I know for a fact I wouldn't miss them if they were gone and I rarely, if ever, play this game online {mostly due to the above faction} - so I wouldn't mind even if the modification were permanent. 'Least until a reinstall, that is... So folks? Is it possible? - and if so, could someone make it happen?

Well you can just delete the part in the factions.xml about the Consortium, but save a copy of the xml incase you want it back. Then just run the game with a .bat file, with the edited factions.xml inside of it.

You won't get your money's worth if you mod out the consortium. Why not balance them, or replace them? Anyways, go into factionfiles.XML and erase Expansion_Factions.xml That will leave Consortium planets neutral, who know what kind of horrors it will do to the campaign, and it will erase the hutts too.

Why even play FOC? For the few new units for both sides and the few new planets? Seriously why don't you just play EAW.

No, I was saying that if he doesn't want the Consortium, why play FOC?

Because FoC rocks. People think it sucks just because it's not canon and unbalanced, but it adds a TON of new game features. That and the new units are ALMOST enough for the money, then there's the consortium. Without the consortium, it's still mandatory for good mods. You can use the models and abilities.

I purchased both EAW n' FOC on Amazon for $10 and $15 respectively; I really don't care all that much about 'getting my money's worth' in this case. Equal Footing is, quite possibly, my favorite galatic map of all-time - and lets me act out some of my more personal Star Wars scenarios. Why mod out the Consortium? I don't like them.

Could they be balanced? Maybe. Have they been balanced? Not yet

I'm not a modder; 'least not for the RTS genre - I don't have that kind of time. I really just want to combat the pitiful Rebellion as the Galactic Empire; using my Super Star Destroyer to lay waste to nearby systems. I enjoy the new features, the new units and all-in-all, I consider FOC to be the superior model. I don't care that they aren't canon; but the Consortium {in my mind} should be comparable to the GLA of C&C: Generals - it's a criminal organization, not a government-funded war machine. Quite simply? They aren't... Moreso than anything else, I find the "ISD" of the Consortium to be downright outrageous - right down to it's big-ass Yamato Gun. When and if a "realism" mod comes out and the Consortium is better balanced? Then maybe I'll put them back in...but until that point I'm content in playing with only the two factions. Thanks fer' the help all! ^^ Hope to see some great stuff coming down the pipe.

I'm playing a Equal Footing Capain as the rebels to defeate the Empire. I kept it on medium but the Consortium kept attack me. I had to keep it on easy. The empire attacked me a few times and I attacked them at Maw, Bestine, and Wayland. That's it. I was trying to beat the Consortium for 120 days. By the time I beat them they had most planets with 10 land units, all building slots filled and the highest level stations built plus a crap load of large capital ships. During that entire time the Empire had no large capital ships though they had more planets the entire time. Right now it's day 160. Since I beat the Consortium I kept it on hard and on fast mode and sit next to the computer and reread Star Wars X-wings series books while waiting for the Empire's military to challange mine and I left enough planets open for them to take to have more than me. They have 70,000cr right now and their military is 40% the size of min. I just wish they would build some ISDs and the Executer already.

A easy way would go to factions XML abd put at the end.
