I want to replace the values in identical XML tags in multiple XML files, but I don't want to go through all the files and edit them by hand. Is there an easier method to do this?? I was trying it through Microsoft Word by opening all the files and then searching for the tag but the Find feature doesn't include the tag, only the value. If I have to get a different editor, then tell me which one would be best for the job. Thanks!

I think you missed the question. I'm looking for a method or program that can quickly edit values for identical tags within many XML files. Notepad and XMLPad are pretty basic and almost common usage for XML editing, but neither can do what I'm requesting.

Find and replace what? The values I'm trying to replace are not the same and are for a specific tag that appears in many XML files for FOC. Say if I wanted to replace the value for this tag: 4000 And there's several tags like this one. How would I go about editing all of them quickly without having to do them all by hand. Please don't tell me to search for 4000 because I won't find this line when the values are different.

I wasn't asking how to search for a word. That's doing it by hand if I have to do it for each line. Using this method over and over for a few hundred files could take a long time.

Most editors even the basic ones have a Find and replace function in the program I use XMLPad as well - basic it might be but its very effective and can do search and replace funtions. You want to the program to find a tag and replace it 'with' .. type of thing ? - most editors already do this.

There's only about 10-15 folders that contain units, if thats what your editing.

LOL! Doesn't anyone read anymore. This function DOES NOT work with what I'm doing. It will find the tag, but it's not going to replace the value when the values are varied. None of the programs mentioned will search for a tag and auto replace it's value.
