I was searching through the forums earlier, looking for any tutorials for skinning, and, lo and behold, none were found. Of course I tried the stickies first, to no avail: most of the links in http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=239615 are broken and offer no help. Did eawnexus move or something? So, yeah, that's pretty much it. Any help is definately appreciated.

I don't think there are any tutorials, because I couldn't find any either.

Hmm.... someone needs to get on that, methinks. :-P How'd you get Lando skinned, though? Like what programs?

I think so. Whenever I try to get to that site, it brings me to another place.

EDIT: I have seen some, but I can't remember where.....I'll try to find them for you.

EDIT: Well I found 3 of them.........all three at EaWNexus and it won't let me in.

Actually, I may have just found the easiest way to fix textures.... at least make new ones. Now, I'm sure the next part is uber easy, but, try as I might, I can't get it to work. How does one work a hex editor? So a model uses a different texture, etc.?

EDIT: On a different, unrelated note, Gam Bel Iblis's land unit skin is the exact skin for Han Solo's model: a perfect match! Sorry, not sure why I felt the need to post that, I just did. :-P

http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=3812.0 I'm very glad you asked. This tutorial assumes you know how to use photoshop or gimp.

HEX editing is complicated, I'd use hexedit, but open the model you want to add the skin to with hexedit, scroll down (I'd click anywhere on the right side, and scroll down with the down arrow key) until you see BaseTexture, then replace the name of the DDS file that follows it with one of the equal length, it is of the most importance that they are equal. Then save it and hopefully it will work.

Also it is neat that you found that out about Bel-Iblis.

Ah! Very good, very good. I do have some knowledge, at least basic, of GIMP. Only problem I foresee is the hex editing. Does the tutorial handle that?

I just downloaded hexedit. Actually, your description helps a lot. Hopefully, I can find it fairly easily.

EDIT: Bah! Alpha channels! Now, this is most likely a newbish question, but where's the option to view the alpha channels? Or am I just missing the entire thing? *hides from insults stemming from my newbish question*

EDIT2: Nevermind, looks like I found the issue with the entire thing. Turns out it needs to be converted to a .tga first, and not use the dds. Dang.

Of course it covers hex editing. What else is there to cover?
