During my moding, I have used well over 30 different programs trying to speed up my coding/moding During this time, I came across these two programs, that quite sufficiently out-did, and out-shone the rest. Maybe they will help you too. http://www.wmhelp.com/ This program lets you check your XML files for errors, and, if you have any, find them with a double-click. It also lets you edit the XML's easily, and locate units deep within the XML using the "Document Outline" feature. If you make large modifications (Like Sonic0, Avenger, and Swfan) I would recomend you give this a try. I am currently using the Beta. And its free! http://www.mindfusion.org This program is a easier Xml Editor than the above is, but offers less options. I have found it best for making small changes to already existing files. IE changing the scale of items, changing speeds, ect. It is not good for large changes do to the programs input method. Best for people who don't to coding, but do make minor changes to Xml's, changing existing units, and making the final changes involded in the pre-final stages of a mod.
And its also free!! (Off-Topic Question, what do Rep points do?)
Can someone sticky this?
It's really helpful.
@turbotails - thanks for those links - they look like good free programs :) I downloaded the one from the first link - and it looks every bit as good as the one I currently use. Perhaps with less bloat. (Uses less resources too)
turbotails23: thanks for posting these links:bows: , this should really help unexperienced modders.
off-topic: is there any program that can place bones in unit 3d model ?
Actually I think those programs are good whether your an experienced xml coder or not ! - save a lot of debugging to find errors anyone can over look :)
