Yes you are not wrong, the last Ultimate Unwrap 3D version can open alo, save them on its own format, next you can open the ultimate unwrap3d format with import 3Dmax tool and you can import objects and hardpoints.

Only you can not import engine lights, p_alo effects and collision. But this are the easiest from one model. Hardpoints can take you many time and you can import them.

It is very interesting if you want rigged again one model faster and better than never.

I have tested it with space and land vehicles, not with infantry.

You're a little late, This is around the 3rd Topic about the same program. But 3D Object Converter also does the same thing. I do not know if Unwrap does infantry, But i know 3DOC can import them, there should be no reason UUW wouldn't do it either...

Nomada. You make it sound like you've found something really special and new. Unfortunately heres a newsflash. You're about 18 months too late. About 1 month after the tools were released an ALO importer/exporter was released for UU3d. Funnily enough this is BEFORE v2.35 (current version that I use). Although your right that it doesnt import the whole model thats not what it was made for.

However, and I would say this as an advisory statement for the whole community. UU3d with the plugin will allow the reverse conversion of ANY model file, so can model makers keep an eye out for their work being used "elsewhere".

3D Object Converter do not export hardpoints. The same to first versions from Ultimate Unwrap 3D.

But the last versions from Ultimate Unwrap 3D to export hardpoints. It is a 2.37, if you have a legal version from it, you can upgrade it.;)

FYI Nomada, I've had both a legal version of UU3d AND a version of the importer/exporter ever since it came out, and EVERY version of the plugin will save hardpoints out (if you have the DCOM for 3dmax you can also export directly to MAX format) if necessary as a seperate text file.

Oh and to save in UU3d you MUST have a legal version due to the need to get it auto licensed online.

I bought this program one year ago and it did not export hardpoints. Only on last version they have made it better.

Yes as on many programs.

I ust point out, Mike. NL DOES HAVE A ALO2MAX CONVERT THINGY FOR 3DS MAX!!! He plans to wait for the UaW mod tools so he can include UaW support in the convertor.

So, it ammounts to: 3000$ 3ds max, and NO 50$ EXTRA FOR CONVERTORS = import of .alo's That is after mike. nl releases the convertor.

Nomada, and Payne. I've had UU3d for a while. What do you mean by export hardpoints. Do you mean it will export bones? I can export model hardpoints. Is there a way to export bones from uu3d to 3ds max 8? Is it a importer plugin, please explain!

UU3D open ALO files and it can save them on UU3D file format, next 3Dmax can import them. With it you can import the objects and hardpoints from a ALO model, you only must add dds texture files, to make the collision, pe engine effects and p_ light effects.

You need the last UU3D and ALO plugin for UU3D, and UU3D plugin for 3Dmax.

And I must say that when I import a ALO model, I import the hardpoints on UU3D but I like import objects from a 3ds file saved with UU3D. With it the size from model will be smaller because if you import objects from a alo saved on one UU3D file, 3Dmax will join all the objects on only one and it is very bad if you want import a Deathclone by example.
