Tired of looking for them, so I ask: Could somebody list me the files I have to edit to add new ability types? I want to add Anakin the Force Rage, but I can only add Power to Weapons... so would you help me? I need only the file list, I think I'll find what to do in order to add some. Thank you.

:bawl: :bawl: :bawl: Everything interesting in this game is hard-coded. But as I know the AOSW team's done something like this... Anyway, thanks for help.

It is very hard, but not impossible, i am sure it can be coded, because i found Force Speed animations for Obi-Wan in the game files, so i think they wanted to give him this ability, but they didn't after all.

Adding an animation and coding it isn't the same. They maybe have done an animation and used Han Solo's SPRINT ability. I didn't mean that I can't make the Force Rage. I apply a Power to Weapons ability on Anakin Skywalker and set the modifiers. But it appears in the game with the icon and the text of the Power to Weapons. I need to change the ablilty's TYPE, because as I found it out that describes the ability's appearance. I had copied e.g. "INVULNERABILITY" into the search and set it to look for the text in the files too. But it didn't appear in any of the major files (exept for uniqueunits.xml, namedherounits.xml and herocompanies.xml). I have the editor's encoded script files and I searched in the resources too, but nothing. There is and xml called "unitabilitytypes" or something like this but that's EMPTY. I think that must be modified, but I don't know how to describe an ability. Maybe something like this: xyz.tga (I must admit that I've NEVER tried this) Anyway it should work because nothing else must be there, these are the things needed. The others are described at the unit's datas. Maybe you should try it... Anyway, I'll go to bed because school starts tomorrow... :bawl: :uhoh: If anybody can help me by using these, I would be very very happy. Bye

I was doing research on this a while back and this is what I discovered.

1.) Unit abilities are encoded in Perl, which is an entirely separate language from xml 2.) Someone would need to build a decripter because perl is encoded. 3.) You can switch special ability icons, but add not new abilities. 4.) You can mix and match given special abilities to make "new ones" but no orginal ones of your own.

at Schrödinger if you have boba fett and obi-one fight each other, he'll use that as part of special animations in the hero duel.

Which file are these in? Anyway, I still think that it can be coded in xml... To put a file into the config.meg and not to use it... Or maybe they wanted to use that first and they decided to encode it in perl. Don't know, just an idea... But thanks for this research, Kelathin!:)

All my attempts at creating a unit ability has failed, maybe someone else will do better.

at this quote, they aren't really adding new abilities, they are more or less mixing and matching current abilities. I've talked with a few of them and specials ability hasn't been cracked
