are you a modeler? If yes i create my model (it is a land unit) and i want to set it in EaW.Do you know what i need to do to do it?
Ok, I am just going off of speculation, but I have two different methods in mind, and neither one of them are guaranteed to work, but I am fairly sure one of them will. 1. Copy the the "maxtoalmo.dle" plugin (should be located in "c:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\MaxPlugin" into 3ds Max's Plugin folder. (IE the folder you installed 3ds max in should have a folder called "plugins." Then start 3ds max, and see if it added anything to any of the menu's. A big hint should be if it complains about the max2almo.dle being in the "plugins" directory. If this does not work, remove the max2almo.dle from your plugins directory. 2. Try running the max2almo.dle as a maxscript.
turbotails23 thanx heh... but... i mean what i should do with my model in max to do it prepare for EaW.. I mean bones, special exporting etc...

LOL, I wish  I know that you have to rig it in a certain way, or else it turns out as crap. I also know that Mike.NL is making a new importer/exporter(I think...) That's all I know.
Well, this is also off of speculation, but you need to create hard points (EAW supposedly picks up bones as hard points.), add particle effects (if you want them, of course), engine glows, a collision mesh, and, if this is a space unit, I believe a "shield mesh" is used for the "power to shields" abilility. To be honest though, i just landed in the same boat as you. I spent 63 hours downloading this "3ds max trial",(finished today, Hurrah!!!) and I cant get the plugin to work with it........
Ok i have 3d max 7, i have the pluggin that came with the map editor, but i think it is for 3d max 6 because i just get an error mesage when i start up 3d max! What pluggin do i require to import models from empire at war and to export them
Hey guys just some info for you to stir around. For those who want to model listen good. Make sure not only have you downloaded the trial version of max 8 but that you have downloaded the service pack 3 and installed that after you installed max 8. If you don't you will get errors from the max to alamo plugin. For ground units you have to rigg differently then space units. Space units for the most part are easier to rigg then ground units. Ground units require patience and time to work with the animations for either the turrets or if it is a walker the legs. If it has treads its a different story and its a proxy and so on. You can find tutorials on rigging space units on www.swgbex.com and in www.eawgalaxy.com/forums/index.php but you won't find ground unit tutorials yet I know they are in the works somewhere but this should get you started and there are a few modelers around who have no problem answering or helping when you have an issue just hang around petroglyph fan forum.
