Ok Ive played this game for awhile now, ive played many mods for it aswell such as that ACM2.4 and The old republic mod. Recently ive tryed to learn how to add models into my game new ships are really all im after and the best ones are from Warb_Null. I went through an downloaded all of my favs and am ready to put them in. Ive been reading forums and looking for youtube vids ''Can't find anything'' on how to add them in, so far ive only goten the hammerhead one to work, Its completly red ingame and has no icon. idk whats wrong i figured i try some other models but none work i get some error. Idk if its possable to add more then one without making a mod or something. Im very new at this. All i want isto play the game with some more ships thats all. I really dont want to go all super mod making biznez. I downloaded a MTD Editor and ive been following these steps from this forum thead http://forums.filefront.com/sw-eaw-modding-mapping-editing/408491-how-code-model-into-eaw-foc.html but still i cant get this hammerhead ship to work right... If someone has a Visual or video tutorial i can go by it would help alot more thanks for anyhelp i get beforehand p.s. If theres nother thead askin this same thing don't yell at me i looked and the link above was the closestthing ive found and its not working ='(.

Cheesecake made made a nice tutorial just for this.

Board Message

You may have to register to read it though.

also, if you change or add something to the game you have in fact created a mod. There is no real limit on how much you can add.

Sorry to bother you again, but I did regester at that boards that you told me about. It's been two days now, and I still can't view any of the tutorials. When I made my account it told me at the end that I had to wait until the admin or w/e to grant me full privaleges or what-not. Which include the tutorials tab, where i believe that tutorial of this Cheesecake's would be located. So for the past two days ive tryed to find it just through the normal forums (Only thing I can do as of yet, I can't even edit my profile yet =s). Ive had no luck finding this ninja tutorial ='(. So i'm just ganna ask this, In my first post where I said ive been following this http://forums.filefront.com/sw-eaw-modding-mapping-editing/408491-how-code-model-into-eaw-foc.html as a guide. This part of it confuses me ---> "you need to open up the MT.commandbar.Mtd, and drop and drag the DDS files into it. For the TGA, you need to find another MT_commandbar.mtd inside the file you just opened. here, you need to go to i the drop-down menus above, and find the Insert files option." When I start up my MTD Editor I cannot find this MT.commandbar.mtd, I don't know what it is or what it looks like. This might be why my hammerhead ship doesn't have any color, icon, or discription in-game. Ive just been inserting these files into my MTD Editor, then extracting them into my data/art/texture's folder. I did everything else that he told me to do to the number except that part. If you can help me with this that would be great.

Xenon- OK let me see if I can help you: 1 - No Text Description- The has nothing to do with the MTD Editor. You need the DAT Editor tool for this one. (Its free and I think its on filefront under modding tools- ask an admin if you can't find it.). Once you have the DAT Editor, you need to open up the file where you mod is and look under the text folder (its at the same parent level as XML, Art, etc). There will be 2 large text files in there. One is called Credits.txt, the other is something like MasterText.txt. You want to open Master Text. In there you will find a listing of all of the descriptions names, etc for the whole game. You need to go to the command bar and under Edit, you will find an option called insert new entry or something like that. When you add the new entry it will prompt you for the name of the entry. There you have to put in the exact coded name of whatever you are trying to add. it should be something like Tooltext.ShipName or whatever. That entry has to match the entry for the coding line in the XML entry that says something like Text Name ID. Look at other ships if you are confused. You will need at least two entries. One for the Name and another for the description. 2. - Adding an Icon- Here you need the MTD Editor. Open up the MTD. Once it is open, go to file under the command bar and under file click open. That will bring up a browser window asking you to identify where the file you want to open is. Through this window, get to your mod, and look in the textures file (its under art, which in turn is under the name of your mod). Once you have the textures file open, there should be a ton of textures (almost a thousand in my case, but I really have no idea how big your mod is so I can't say for you). Sort the files based on size. That will bring a compressed MTD to the top (it should be the biggest texture file in the folder that is). Then open that up. I'm writing all this based on memory as I am at work right now, but I THINK that should bring up a big list of icons. Once you have that open you will have to save it somewhere that you can edit it (by inserting another icon). I suggest your desktop (once you are done you will drag it from your desktop back into the textures file to replace the old one). Once you have saved it. Click under Edit, Insert, and it will prompt you to insert your icon. Then you jsut insert the .TGA Icon from whereever you have it saved and that should be it. Save the file. CLose the MTD and replace the original compressed textures file with your new file. 3- Model is all green- Im not sure what your problem is with the model being all red. I have had models that were all green before, and I was never able to fix the problem so I just dropped those models and used others (not every model turned all green, only maybe 1 or 2 of the 150+ I have added) Hope this helps.
