Okay the ultimate debate on Warlords will be here and free release things.

No Flaming No insulting Stick with your beliefs

My problem with Warlords is how our community came to rely on Warlords. AGD killed all the little mods, after People started converting Warlords, people didn't care about quality. They cared about the number of units and that was it. AGD V3 proved it. Buggy, crappy models, but has over 21 k downloads.

The most successful mods in Eaw/Foc Community were (no particular order) Bailknight AGD Eaw enhanced CIS Stieners

What did all these mods have in common? Warlords, large number of units in Warlords. The larger mods do blame Warlords, it's hard for them to complete with AGD and CIS coming out with releases frequently. Outside resources of modders don't come into the community because it simply was to hard to compete with mods coming out with several new units at a time because it only takes 1-2 hours to do a rig where as good models can take weeks, plus having to uv a new model and then skin it.

My other big irk are free release public models. KoF came out with many models. How many people actually came out with mods as KoF intended to do? I saw revenge of the droids, and that was it. Everyone else stores away the models and they never saw the light of day in another mod again. People always ask if this model x is free released, why do they care? they are simply going to have it in their own private mod. They can simply take the model from a mod?

Right now how many mods are coming out? There are very little? Why, code something, do something. Everyone always asks people do this or that for them instead of learn. There are tutorials out there.

I myself, started modding because of DE. I was never a modder before. I started with Coding, never could get into skinning or modeling as much as Coding. Text editing. Icons are easy. I'm no where as good as alot of the coders on large mod teams, but I find doing it myself whenever possible is most gratifying.

For modding eaw You need Notepad or Wordpad, FREE Gimp 2.0 FREE

Already you can introduce reskinned units and various adjustments to code. Give an at-at hypervelocity guns.

Tcs are the only ones that really need max because they are trying to totally convert the game into another timeline or into something not even star wars.

You bring up a good point, I felt I depended on the Warlord conversion until I started modelling (which was just a few days ago:)).

I personally don't see how the Warlords are hurting us... after all, a model is a model - the main problem is that NONE of our modders can agree on ANYTHING. If people would stop fighting with each other over stupid things like models and reputations and actually think about what’s GOOD for the community and the game at large then a lot more would get done - look at SAU for instance.

I agree, the quarrelling is more a problem than Warlords. What he is saying is that the Warlords models are saturating the community, and that small mods are being drowned out by the Warlord using mods.

I'm anti but thats because by flooding the community with these models all the mods will looks the same if everyone started to use them.

C'mon where's the variety!!

Variety smariety. I personally am more interested in seeing how different modders do different things with the Warlord Models. One of the hardest things about modeling is the tech needed, the Warlords is a cheaper – less time consuming way of making new units

I can See Warlords Being used in small amounts but With the Massive Amounts they are in is Creepy. I feel the Main reason in lack of Dedication to the Work you must do to get these if Warlords did not exist I doubt that Mods would be even touched I see it as the Many are Taking the Quick and Easy Path Just as Vader did. With that Warlord is Easy and you can use it Just do not rely on it for everything.

WTF IS WARLORDS!

Aotc is using Kof's models, some of codeusers etc if thats what you want Kelathin, and Aotc will mostly allow other mods to use some of our content.

Warlords are a group of models for Homeworld 2, that can be converted to alo.

Wookiee In Pajamas will use KOF's and some others that have been released, possibly a few Warlords, but since I now model, most will be made from scratch.
