Am wondering if anyone knows why I am having a particular problem with the water when I make a map in the Map Editor for Star Wars:EaW. allow me to be specific I create a map with the map editor. I include water and it all looks fine in the editor. I ajust the settings and I have some lovely looking water in my map. Then I try out my custom map in a skirmish and there is NO WATER. Just a dirty great hole in the ground where the water should be. It is interesting because, troops who come near to the shore or go across "shallow" sections make ripples that can be seen! But the water itself cannot be. I wondered if it might be my video card, but it seems unlikely as I can see the water fine on the standard maps that come with the game. Evenmore interesting is that custom maps that others create work fine, I can see their water. I have tried to determine what it is that I am doing wrong by taking the custom maps of others and putting them in the editor to have a look at what they did. But no joy. I see nothing different. I have tried many different settings for the water, and environment and weather. Nothing seems to work. I have tried combing this web site along with others to find any hint at what the problem is, but can find no entries on anything like it. It seems I am the only person in the whole world who cannot create water.:bawl: So, can anyone help me? Have I missed somthing obvious? or is it something technical and secret that I am unaware of? By the way, everthing else in the editor (and the game) works fine for me.
Well, i dont know if this will help, but try changing the waters opacity. It might just be so see through.
The only thing I can think of doing is changing the "Surface Type" parameter to Water. Also, add the passability brush to the area of water so troops can't walk through it. (Unless of course you want them to.)
Thanks, Darth Muffin and Viceman Unfortunatly I have tried the suggestions both of you have made, to no avail! Any other sugestions, I am all ears. thanks
You could always uninstall and then re-install it. That might work, but you never know. ;) Anyway -- good luck.
Or, you could try fiddiling wqith your LOD settings. it might be that.
