Let's say Palpatine suddenly disappears from the Republic - who takes over?

Oh and yes, this is modding related, but I'm not going to explain why just yet.

err...lets assume that it's not going to be one of his lackeys. Besides the Supreme Chancellor is a voted position.

i have to go with Organa, this is mostly due to a number of factors.

1st, no plapy means no invasion of naboo means no sypathy vote and he popular. 2nd, he was leader of a nuetral world that advocaded peace, you can't get much more responsible than that.

3rd he war one of the thrre nomanees when valorum was kicked out and likely would have won without the sypathy vote.

You mean if he left in power? Also, which point in time would this be? I assume you mean by during the CW or just after.

I vote Mothma, but I want to throw Jar Jar Binks into the mix, his career was very successful after the Military Creation act and he wasn't as outspoken compared to Mothma, Bail or the others.

Theres also Garm as well, he was loved greatly as Senator of Corellia, charismatic, skilled in strategy and had many supporters. He also spoke against Palpatine, so would be a good choice if he disappeared in a negative way.

We're looking at some point during the Clone Wars, and I mean he does become Supreme Chancellor, but then during the Clone Wars disappears

Actually that was Bail Antilles, not Bail Organa

That would be Mon Mothma because she just kicked palpy's ass during the Rebellion and she was capable of making a new goverment from scratch. and she is just cool :P

Hmm, good question. I'm not sure the rules of succession have adequately been explained for the Republic, but my guess would be that Mas Amedda would assume the chancellery - at least until Palpatine's term expired.

i would have to say organa, hes a very capable leader and has alot of influence he is also one of the main founders of the rebellion (according to "the force unleashed)
