So, i go to edit an xml file (with xmlpad) to change the cost, build time etc...and i do, and i save, and go into the game...and nothing changed! I am pretty sure i am missing some important thing i need to do. Can anyone help? P.S. I am trying it on a map that i made (which i tried uploading and is still waiting approval), in a mod i did not make (CiS, changing for myself i swear), and i am clicking save, not save as. I am trying to change the heavier rebel ships to cost less, build faster, and spawn more fighters/differnet fighters.
I have, personally, never tried editing XML in XML Pad. I usually use Wordpad and everything saves just fine. Try editing/saving your files using Wordpad to see if that changes anything. If that doesn't help, you can post a copy of your edited code and we could see what is missing.
Did you copy them into your DATA folder properly/whatever-mod-you're-using's folder?

Hmm are you using Vista or did you install to the default directory under C:\Program Files?

Normal area, and only this one mod. I can get different garrison for starbase, still need to try on liberator's. But i still cant get the 1cred1sec thing going. :bawl: I also noticed that i get these files with a ~ in front of the name. Is that what's wrong?
those are automatic backups xmlpad creates, wont affect the gameplay in any way dont worry.
Are you editing the Dauntless for the GC or skirmish? Because there's two sets of cost/build time data, one for each game mode.
